Andersson20 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 So I've had this problem for some time now. I cant get the game to start. My current specs are a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600 CPU and a ram of 16 gigabytes. My current windows edition is Windows 10 version 20H2. I probably have the required specs, tho I can't get the game to work. When I go into the windows start window and search for IL-2 and try to start the game normally, a window pops up saying theres a problem finding the game. I usually ignore that, and try starting the game with the admin, and when I try that, nothing happens. So what I tried next is to locate the files (that Windows shoud be capeble of finding) , and then start IL-2 manually. When I do that, it pretty much says "doesn't respond". After that, I try to start the launcher, and then accesing the game from the laucher, when I press the "play" icon, nothing happens as before. I have tried running all the different methods mentioned in the FAQ and the support, tho nothing have helped. I still don't understand why this is occuring. If anyone has/had the same problem, can you possibly help me, or give me an advise? I just want to fix this problem. I have a MSI computer from 2018 and all games I have played before have worked and doesn't have any lagspikes or so. Thanks. (PS) All mentioned problems are in the pictures below. Andersson. ?
Zeev Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Its hard to understand the exception message when its in German, but from the error message its clear that a folder or file are missing. I would try to reinstall the game (backup the old folder as all user files are there). Edited January 19, 2021 by Zeev
FlyingH Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 @ZeevIt´s swedish, by the way! @Andersson20 Your updater looks for the update file in C\Program files... but your game is on your D\ drive, I don´t know how to redirect the updater but you may need to reinstall the game to your D drive to fix that problem. Did you install the game to C\Program files at first? And do not use the launcher to start the game, use the IL2.exe instead and see if it works.
Andersson20 Posted January 21, 2021 Author Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) So, I have now re-installed the game, and the laucher works fine, tho the game still gives me the "doesn't respond" when I try starting the game. I have been trying to wait for the game to respond, tho nothing really happens. I have been trying to run diagnostics to why the game doesnt respond, tho nothing has helped. Zeev Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) I had bizarre issues with the game after every major Windows Update - No sound, stuck on loading screen etc. Renaming the folder solved issues. Edited January 22, 2021 by Zeev

Is the il2.exe allowed through your firewall? I've run into a similar issue in the past and double checking that has solved the problem.
Andersson20 Posted January 29, 2021 Author Posted January 29, 2021 How am I supposed to allow it thru the firewall, I have been messing around with it in Windows Defender-Firewall tho it hasn't worked.
Riggs Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 I'm having the same issue, just black screen on launch. I'm using steam of course, and now have to verify game files when I'm done playing to avoid the not responding message. The thing is when I verify, steam always says that "1 file missing and was reacquired." The steam forums said to come here, and it appeared that many players are having this issue recently.
Andersson20 Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 So, after about 5 months where I didn't even try to get the game started, I finally did, and it was rather simple. I had to go into autostart in the task manager and remove all the applications I had started, which solved the problem emediatly after a quick restart. Thanks for the help on this topic and I really enjoy that you guys put in effort on solving the problem for me. Andersson. :D
