I’m thinking about getting standard size Monstertech desk mounts for the HOTAS Warthog but I’m also interested in a joystick extension I’d be looking at the 75mm extension.

My question is has anyone got the above set up using the joystick centrally on the desk, is the joystick too high with a 75mm extension with a standard Monstertech desk mount or would I need to order the longer version of Monstertech so I have more room play with positioning the joystick height or is the standard desk mount OK.

Don’t really want to spend the extra money on the longer desk mount if I don’t need too.

Any information would be appreciated. ?

Hard to say really as it will also be up to personal preference, what may be too high for one might not be high enough for another.

Nice thing with the extended Monster Tech Mount you know you are covered, even if you should desire a little longer extension down the road.

You could also maybe get the dimensions of the standard mount off the Monster Tech Site, and measure your warthog and add the extension height and get a

rough idea of how it will set for you.

Btw I used a standard Monster Tech Mount back in the day with a Warthog with I believe 75mm extension and it was a bit high for me. Might have been a 100mm though can't remember for sure.

I use the extended mount now for my Gunfighter Pro with 200mm extension, and the standard mount for my Virpil throttle.

Thanks dburne, I did realise afterwards it would be personal preference could be a good idea to do with the deeper Monstertech at least then I would be covered.  Will check out the Monstertech site and get some idea of sizes etc.

just wondering do the extension really make a difference?

thanks again

Yeah once I tried one I could not go back to desktop setup.

Here is my setup with the extended mount for my stick, and standard mount for my throttle.

@dburne

How do you sit there? I have a Gladiator NXT but no extension, and it sits on a desk mount, center-mounted (as yours looks), but since there is no extension I can just wheel my chair under it so that it is pretty much in my lap.

That's comfortable for me since I can also rest my right elbow on the arm rest while gripping the stick. Do you have some kind of cut-out in your chair?

In my gaming chair which I wheel up right to it, so the stick is between my legs just in front of the chair.

No cut outs in the chair.  Seems quite comfortable for me as well.

There is also the Wheel Stand Pro option (with the Warthog adapter), which works well if you want a Buttkicker on your controls:

Yep...me too!  It helps augment the Jetseat.  Great accessories BTW. :salute:

Yeah I have a Wheel Stand Pro for my racing gear setup.

And my Crosswind rudder pedals mounted to the base of another wheel stand.

Yes, that is why I was hopeful in the other thread that you had your new VKB metal grip mounted to the Wheel Stand (I couldn't tell from that photo angle).  I thought maybe they had a new adapter like the one for the Warthog, because the addition of the BK to the Wheel Stand gives a really nice feel to the pedals, throttle, and stick at the same time since they are mounted together.

I may have to try to figure that out when more of the of the VKBs are available.

My old setup - 75mm extension on standard Monstertech desk mounts.  This should give you an idea about height - this was fine for me albeit it was not completely natural - the grip was higher than it would be in reality.  In VR this did not cause any kind of angst.

I now have a VIRPIL T-50CM2 base with a 75mm extension and a Warthog handle.  The grip sits lower because of how the base attaches, and that is also fine.

Thanks von-Tom nice set up, I've just ordered the Monstertech mounts, longer mount for the Joystick and standard for the Throttle, have to say after seeing dburne set up I'm thinking about the Virpril 'S' curve extension and ordering a stronger spring from Sahaj - This hobby can get expensive!

Anyone have this set up with the Worthog I've searched the Webb but only seem to see images of the Virpril units with the 'S' curve extension.

Thanks again for all the info and images. ?

:good:

Good move, they are great mounts and so easy and quick to attach and detach from desk.

Just to say I have received the Monstertech mounts what a solid piece of kit they are well worth it just waiting for an ‘S’ shaped extension from Virpil which is on back order and if or when the Thrustmaster base stops working then I shall go for a Virpil base.
