Lose controls mid flight

While flying multiplayer I occasionally lose all control input of all joystick, rudder, throttle, and keyboard.  I am unable to hit escape to menu or use the mouse in game.  Alt-tab does not help.   Key commands like "record" are also unavailable.  I am forced to use task manager to close the game.  

 

I thought it may be my joystick/software, but when I was flying with a friend, Sahaj, he had the same bug occur, and I'm fairly sure he has an entirely different setup.

@NakedSquirrel Windows updates often rest USB devices to power off to save battery life. It is intended for laptops but is applied across the board.

Open Device Manager and scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then right click on each line and open Properties. Under Power Management tab make sure the box Allow computer to turn off device" is unchecked. Not all lines will have Power Management and you may need to do this again after a future Windows update.
