ThePutzmann 13 Posted Wednesday at 08:52 PM Hello everyone! This is my first skin I made. Any criticism is welcome😄. During WW2 it was common for people in the Soviet Union to donate money to their government and therefore help the fight against Nazi Germany. One example of this are Ilya Andreevich Shirmanov and Maria Filippovna Shirmanov. In February of 1943 a letter arrived in Moscow: "Me and my husband, part of the agricultural cooperative "Gorky" in the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, decided to donate our savings to build a tank. We have donated 50.000 rubles to the State Bank of the USSR. I ask for permission to personally hand this armoured fighting vehicle over to my son, tanker Andrey Ilyich Shirmanov, as a gift in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Red Army." The T-34-76 tank, with the inscription "Gift to our Son" on the turret, was handed over to Andrey, who served in the 1st Tank Battalion of the 162nd Tank Brigade, in June 1943. Unfortunately , not too long after having the tank gifted to him, Andrey Ilyich Shirmanov was killed near the Ukrainian city Chernivtsi. BladeMeister 583 Posted Thursday at 01:13 AM (edited) I like the pics and just downloaded it. I will check it out tonight. Love that it has a historic story behind. That was a very touching gesture for that Community to do for one of there. It is unfortunate that it ended sadly. Thank you for sharing.
