Couldn't find what I was looking for in the search, but I can't seem to find the file since I have IL2 in steam.

Any pointers would be great or the root location for games through steam

My STEditor.exe  is in program files (x86) - steam - steamapps - common - IL-2 sturmovik battle of stalingrad - bin - editor

I think that is the default.  Make a shortcut for the STEditor.exe to the desktop and you will never have to find it again!

while you are in the neighbourhood, consider making a few more shortcuts:

  • .../bin/editor/ResetEditorSettings.cmd  -  Reset the editor settings, which may help if you run into technical issues with it.
  • .../bin/viewer/Viewer.exe  -  The aircraft/tank viewer
  • .../bin/game/DServer.exe  -  Open the DServer (dedicated server) interface for running multiplayer missions.
Note: You can also get an additional DServer using a separate free account, which allows you to run the DServer
and also run BoX and fly on that server. See Chapter 11 in the mission editor manual.
  • .../bin/resaver/MissionResaver.exe  -  This is a command-line executable to "resave" the mission on a multiplayer server computer  I have not used it but there's a related post here and here.
