Index (or other devices), small mod for increased comfort

As you know, the Index is a bit heavy (800grm) and with a weight compensation in the back side (200grm) it is almost 1Kg.

For long flying sessions and with my very thin hair on the top of my head, the top strap starts to be a bit of a pain. The weight of the device is basically supported by the top strap.

I saw in the thingiverse a nice 3D printed mod that could be used for the Index or any other device using a top strap.

It cost 3€ per piece. Total 2x3 pieces is 18€. Plus 13€ the foam pads (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07NYGMCKN)

This is how it looks on my Index:

There is also an out-of-the-box combo for weight compensation and top strap weight distribution here:

I like the 3D printed one, it looks good. I have the StudioFormCreative one and I like it a lot. I'm planning to transfer it to a G2 since it looks like it should work, because the ear-cups are the same on the two headsets.

Oh, I've used a piece of seatbelt padding I had lying around - you know, the wrap around velcroed types. Shortened it a bit and sewed up the end I cut. My issue was that it would irritate my saggital keel sometimes.

The 3D printed one is valid for any headset with a top velcro strap, like Pimax, RiftCV1, Reverb G1&G2, etc.

So, you then are going to buy the G2. Let us know how it goes.

Yes, I ordered it some time ago. My recent posts were about thinking maybe to cancel the order, but it's on the way now! It's stuck at a processing facility, I think the transport company is clearing their Christmas backlog. (An aside: Amazon is going to kill everyone else not just because they have a huge selection and mostly-cheap prices, but they are buying planes and building a very good delivery system -- if I have to always wait 1 week for other vendors, I might choose Amazon even if I don't want to give money to Jeff).
