I can't decide if this is a bug or a feature, but in multiplayer I start in a FW190 and after 2 shorts bursts I'm out of cannon.  Snapshots only.  The only rationale I can think of is that the faster I go the faster interrupter gear works and the cannons fire faster.  But the ATA is throttled back to avoid overspeed and the rpm is Kommandogerät managed.

A3 - inner wing cannons only.

Any ideas?

@von_Tom what do the two outer ammo counters show?

You are shooting weapon group one, right? As weapon group two in the Focke Wulf are the outer wing guns.

EDIT: Did you try to reproduce this in SP? Maybe it is some kind of package loss.

Both show approximately 50% of the white bar, and the mg shows 100%.

im not sure how it can be packet loss because it is literally a tap of the fire button - maybe 1/2 second at most.

I’ll check in SP.

50% of the height of the counter or of the height of the white bar at the beginning? The two MG counters are 900 rounds in a 1000 rounds counter, so at the beginning the bar ia pretty much at top.

The cannon counter has 250 rounds in a 500 rounds counter, so the bar is in the middle of the counter at the beginning.

Is it only the two inner cannons not shooting anymore and the two machineguns are still shooting, or do all four guns stop shooting?

If you only shoot 20mm guns, no machineguns, then you are using the weapon button two, which in other aircrafts shoots the cannons, but in the 190 only shoots the outer cannons, while the inner cannons are shot with weapon button one, together with the machineguns, which would explain, why your guns stop shooting that soon and why the counter bar still is in its initial position.

Yes

I have it set to fire all guns.  The cannon counter shows cannons full (50% of the bar) then after 2 small bursts it shows as empty.  I only have 2 inner wing cannon and the 2 MG.  I did not have this issue before the last patch.

As a very rough and ready test I tried firing all guns on the ground and in a dive at 700km/h.  Both times it  took around 20 seconds to fire off the cannon which fits with the MG 151/20 rate of fire.  I then went onto the Finnish server and it took the same time.

I can only think that there is a weird packet loss issue somewhere, though that has been 3 times and on one of those occasions I didn't fire before I was empty of cannon.  I tend not to record tracks which means it'll be lucky if I an replicate/record it.

Did your game stutter or get shortly stuck when you attacked. This could explain, where the packet got lost, if that is the reason. I am asking, because I had that happen in SP two or three times, that in the very moment, when I started shooting at an enemy aircraft, my game got stuck for a short time and the guns were firing during that moment. So this could be, where your rounds got lost.

I had the same issue in multiplayer with the Spitfire IX a couple of times maybe 3-4 month ago. The .5 were suddenly empty after very short bursts and once even without a single shot (out of ammo message was shown during landing).

Hi guys, an interesting problem, that is, it manifests itself in the network and singleplayer in the same way?

I have only noticed it in multiplayer. There was no pause or any delay in the game. Once I was completely out of cannon ammo before I fired my guns, and in the other I ran out after 2 quick bursts.

My experiences were on the Finnish server in different missions on different maps. There is nothing I can think of that was specific to what happened or to the missions - for example I had not been shot at or taken damage.

@von_Tom, I understand that my question will surprise you, do you have an antivirus or firewall? if Yes, then try to disable it and see if there will be repetitions of the bug.

Only Windows Defender. I do not have any other software or hardware firewall or antivirus.

Both times I had a squad mate with me and his ammo was ok. This might suggest it was a client side problem. Maybe if software was updating in the background but I did not know?

SOLVED

I use a Virpil joystick base with a Warthog grip on.  I use TARGET (Thrustmaster software) to map my joystick lever to my middle mouse button.  My middle mouse button is what I use for comms i.e. push-to-talk.

I noticed that the ammo counter was ticking over a lot, as if the cannon were constantly reloading.  I noticed that it did it every time I talked.  I checked and for some reason the reload command was mapped to the middle mouse button, so every time I talked using push-to-talk I reloaded the cannons and lost 1 round.  I have no idea why that command was mapped like that - very odd.

So, now I know that in a 30-40 minute combat flight I talk at least 250 times...
