Can't join MP servers

I've been away for awhile, and I come back and cannot join MP servers. I see the servers have banned graphics mods. 

 

I do have a number of custom skins installed because of the squadron I used to fly in. But I don't think that would cause an issue, since those can already be turned off using server side settings. 

 

Could I have another mod that's the problem? Perhaps a setting? I do fly in VR, and I read some commentary on reshade and on VR zoom, but I am unsure what mods, if any I have because it's been awhile.

 

I used to fly with SCG. 

 

Any information on how to track down these errant mods and remove them is appreciated. I am using the standalone version of IL2.

DO NOT use any Reshade enhancements/injectors anymore - these will prevent you from connecting to any MP servers.

 

It was discussed some while back this year, because some people used specific Reshade filters to alter their situational awareness / spotting

and did some cheating with this.

Thanks. I read that as well, but I don't know what a reshade filter is. At least I don't think I am using such an enhancement. 

 

I am wondering if I need to do a clean reinstall of the game to clear up the problem?

@TheHighwayman you probably still have the VR mod still installed, which includes certain types of now-banned injectors. I used to use the VREM mod (which used to be called the migoto mod) for just the kneeboard feature that allowed me to see labeled cockpit diagrams in my VR headset - but that feature unfortunately relies on injectors that most MP servers have banned (it was quite the dust-up in the forums during the summer).

 

So, it may not seem you are using a mod that includes banned injectors, but chances are good any past VR mod includes some of them, however benignly they are implemented. Ideally you use something like JSGME to enable your mods. If you do, then simply using JSGME to disable any VR mod will probably allow you to access all MP servers again.

I did not use JSME. I do recall I used a mod that turned off the propeller in VR, or something to that effect. Back when I was on the Oculus Rift. I can't remember if I installed a program or if it involved a manual tweak to a file.
