Skywarp7 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I was told that Battle of Normandy would be no more than 10% off until it's released and that it would be a long time before it actually goes on sale for more than that. Am I correct? I just want to be absolutely clear that the sale will never go above 10% off if I purchase it now. I would hate to purchase it only to have it go on sale for 50% off sometime before its release or after. I doubt that will happen though but I just want to be absolutely sure. The main reason I want to purchase now is so I can start flying the Bf 109G-6 "late" and try out the P-47D-22.
40plus Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 it will be at its current price for at least another year. You have time, no rush. 1
PatrickAWlson Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 It's impossible to make that guarantee. If you want to fly the planes as they come you should buy it. If you want to wait for more of a discount that won't happen until well after release. In the end it's about $20. If it's worth that $20 to fly the planes as they are released then that's the right decision. Otherwise you can hold off. 2

It was never on sale more than 10% off during this last sale we just had right? That was my main reason for asking because I just missed the last sale we had. I thought for some reason the sale would last till the end of the year. Edited December 21, 2020 by Skywarp7

I've only been around since BoK was in pre-order, but in that time no pre-order product has gone below the pre-order discount. Now, once they are released in full ( say 12--14 months from now), soon after they will go on sale for 30-50% off. In other words, the sooner you buy, the more value you'll get for your pre-order discount. For example, I bought BoK shortly after it had been released for full price. A week later it was on sale for 50% off. Now, I have no one to blame as I simply didn't have the money at the time to pre-order it, being out of work. I know others to whom that timing happened and they got butt hurt over it. So, be aware that it you wait to buy it until ten months from now on final pre-order, within six months of that it will be on sale for half of what you paid for it. That's just the way their sales work; 1C probably sells 80% of all a products sales as pre-orders, so they have to put big discounts once the module is published to get that last 20% of buyers to finally buy. Having said all that, even at full price, you get ten planes for the price of two planes from non-BoX flight simulator competitors. BoX is a bargain even at full price among modern flight sims. JMO and YMMV. 1

Yes, Bodenplatte for example moved from Early Access to Release in November 2019 and received its first post-launch discount in February 2020, a gap of some three months. In between, there was a January sale that did not include Bodenplatte. Assuming this repeats, I'd recommend buying Normandy as soon as possible if the planned features interest you. If you're only marginally interested, it's best to wait for the huge discounts some time after the Release. 1

When I'm in the Finnish Virtual Pilots arena and the latest model Bf 109 available is the Bf 109G-6 "late", it would be worth it to have just for that. I'm really intrigued to see how it flies. I'm aware it will basically just be a slightly underpowered G-14, but I still feel like I have to fly it now.
Hot_Rod Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Hi Skywarp7, If you haven’t done so already, you may enjoy reading @ShamrockOneFive’s comparison of the G6, G6 Late and the G14, on his Stormbirds blog (“The sweet spot?
