Photoshop brush settings for painting German camo?

Recommended Posts

I'm so bad at this - does anyone have any tips re: brush / brush size / opacity / flow etc in Photoshop for painting German camos? I have the color swatches that were shared on the board, and lots of material to help with camo shapes and colors, but could use some help figuring out how to make the camo paint look like it was painted in game vs. my clumsy work.

Blur the edge of your brush by about 50+%/

Drop the 'Flow' by similar

Have your Brush Size set at around 40.

There you have it, the beginning of a beautiful career!!

:thank_you:

If there is one certain thing about WW2 - it is fact that Luftwaffe did not have a uniformed or consistent cammo pattern ( ...beside the mess of color pallet application )

I personally never set 2 brush settings above 30 percent... with 50% I lose control of final outcome.

In the window, choose a BRUSH set, create your own brush image as you like. give it your name and you will be happy)))

Another technique (among many) is to paint them with a hard edge brush and once complete use the Gaussian blur to soften the edges.

There's also a lot of "grunge" brushes available to download in order to do weathering, paint chips etc.

Lots of Photoshop tutorials on youtube also. I kinda like Phlearn, especially if you have a graphics tablet with pressure sensitive pen (Wacom has several fairly inexpensive versions... it really ups the level of painting).

Thanks warlord64 that was really helpful as I spend hours experimenting with camo, this removes a lot of pain and speeds things up :).

 Hi SR603-Flowbee

Thanks Your very welcome, Luftwaffe  Camo Patterns are complex and as stated they are very time consuming to make individual  mottles and Squiggly patterns etc

and like Yourself I was frustrated trying to find the right Brushes that matched the correct pattern so I created these to simplify the process.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I havn't been on the forum for a while and just saw Your reply.

Regards

Keith:)

Any idea about the new Nvidia DDS file converter?  I am having trouble figuring out the settings for IL2.

Thanks,
