Thanks for the update......... looks amazing.

It will be interesting to see ground loops on the uneven ground & the resultant number  of bummed up wing tips!

That video was amazing... - You guys are breaking new ground. Or should I say, breaking planes with the new ground!  :-)

Same question ?, just made a topic about it today ?

I think it is a testament to the quality of their work that we want to see what it is like to drive around an empty truck! :)

It does seem fairly easy though - as they are clearly modelling the gun separately... it probably wouldn't take much additional work to make it optional.

And no me262 ever lifted from a grass airfield again....

I'm curious if the community will generally decide that tricycle landing gear isn't always an improvement...!

New terrain will help new FiF or BA/BS missions on FC where you must land to capture/rescue people.

Uhm, that looked like the Kuban map which has solid ground. Need to see it on Rhineland or Arras which is soggy ground.

S! I checked the Arras map. See picture. Wheels still stuck in mud.

But........ I was able to take off and land five times with no plane damage.

Felt really good.

Things do get better.

Be funny to see Multiplay Servers initially after the ground terrain effects on aircraft modeled.

Looking good with the updates as always ?

Eggs celent video, looking forward to trying it out. Another Bravo Zulu team.

Love the detail in the truck, probably more than I thought there might be, superb work by your partners.

As for landing in the rough, I will leave that to the experts here, takes me all my time to avoid bending the undercarriage on a normal runway.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Hmm, looking at the pictures of that beautiful GAZ truck made me realise something....First implementation of a whole new mechanism in this sim so I have to ask the important question. . . . . . will the windshield wipers work the way we would expect them to on rainy days?

On a GAZ? Sure, they won't do nothing. :)

Concerning the American and British pilots, it would be great if they be selected as a modification for applicable aircraft just like the female pilots are!

Gentlemen developers it is possible to have this.
Thank you very much for your work.

It is not only about driving. I think it opens a lot of gameplay mechanics in MP (resupply, repair etc.).  Currently people use tanks to perform those tasks but it would look more realistic to have trucks to perform logistic actions

I can also see some SP campaign missions... having a shortage of operational aircraft and transferring airfields by driving :)

Can't wait to drive the Gaz.  I work on and drive many Model A Fords because of my job, and the Gaz is a license built Ford AA truck.  The cab and dash are identical to the A series Ford cars and pickups that I have serviced over the years, well except that Fords have front brakes, unlike that Gaz.

How does the roughness of the terrain vary?  Can the devs enlighten or has anyone done a lot of testing?  Is there some ground that is fairly soft, and some that is so rough you won't pull off that landing no matter what?  Soggy ground looks pretty good.  Just curious about trying  to eyeball emergency landing spots now and how to account for the new features.

Great news! This is more and more a simulation. :salute:

I am in a sim brake atm, until I saw that beautiful PO 2

I wanna fly it again

The new ground effect will be a boon to mission makers.  I hope the Ju-52 and C-47 (when it becomes flyable) will be able to take advantage of it as well.  I want to be able to deliver partisans, secret agents and supplies to resistance fighters.

Agreed but only if the weather is set to 'Rain'.

Awesome models and terrain improvements. Thank you, looking excellent.

Everything looking great as always!!

I'd just like a random "living airfield" generator tool which when clicked would mean whatever base the player is at, ground units would spawn and move around the perimeter and infantry/humans could spawn and make the airfield seem more realistic rather than the current "sterile" version.

Very good realistic video on rough terrain..........

....but even better if the crew is able to jump out of the plane _ better view of new uniforms and more realism !

Good stuff. Thanks for the update. Detail in the upcoming AAA truck looks awesome. Can't wait for both of them to arrive.

Talking about feeling the terrain, I think the touching when landing are a bit of the let down, you bearly feel it, it's maybe lacking a noise from the tires and some vibration is it not? Also in tanks when i toggle the binoculars for the tc I cant take them off... only way around is to toggle the gun or flare gun instead.

@Matsy_fr

bins are operated by left ctrl 5 and left ctrl ` (key to left of !1) to put away.

Too bad there is not  more support to these wishes.......

Everything is more and more detailed and beautifully crafted to the last rivet, grass, trees, houses,  but

it is a dead world where nothing move _out of scripted missions_ at last !

So, the idea of a "living airfield "...or village, is just what I expected since IL, 1946, RoF etc...

I see no difference between ground roughness set to "High" or set to "Off". Also I ran a benchmark (version-6 with IL2s flying) which returned identical fps for both cases.

Am I getting blind ? Can anybody explain how graphics get affected by this setting ?

As far as I can tell it's just a 3D setting.  For me it looks "bumpier" but want I was hoping for was smoothness so I could do field landings and takeoffs.  Yes it seems better with the Po-2 but that's because they improved the planes "suspension" so it can deal better with the rough terrain.  Other planes have not changed any.  It also helps with immersion in Tank Crew by giving the ground and tank suspension a more realistic look.

I think.

It's just a visual feature showing how uneven the terrain is.

I'm right?  That means the medications are working and "They" aren't really coming to take me away.

I must have initially missed something because I was seeing the video I was led to believe that they had made the ground smoother.
