There is a PB1 and a PB1M8.  In each case it looks like 12x rockets.  What is the difference?  Tried googling and it looked like the M8 is the name of the warhead on the PB1, which is not a difference at all.  Presumably, in the game. the M* would have the M8 warhead and the "regular" PB1 would have a different warhead - not the M8.

Looking specifically for what the difference is in game.  More info on why which would be better under what circumstances would also be helpful.  Thanks.

The R-Hl. Panzerblitz 1 is a shaped charge warhead (HEAT) for anti armor use. The R-Sprgr. M8 has a high explosive warhead for use against soft targets

OK, so the PB1 M8 warhead is HE and the PB1 is shape charged.  Thanks.

For F-8 units from late 1944 in the West (i.e., from November), you can also set the Panzerblitz and M8 rockets up as the default loadout, since that is all that SG 4 used (including on the day of Bodenplatte). That's how it's configured for stock career mode.

One quality of life improvement high on my wish list is for more information on the various modifications and load outs in the game UI.

I don't know what these things are and you just have to know that blue and orange designate AP or HE and I can never remember which is which.

All the lovely, persnickety detail about the planes themselves then a whole page of, these things go boom, figure it out for yourself.

I couldn't agree more.

I also wish they would fill in more details about speed losses from certain equipment.  Like the Fw190 F-8 twelve rockets that this topic is about, the speed loss is never stated in any way whatsoever, for any combination.

Speed loss from opened radiators would be great info too.  I did a test on the 190 A8, and the outlet flaps at full speed, can have a 44kph (!!!!) speed loss between 0 and 100% opened.  That's insane and hard to believe is historically accurate, but I could be wrong.  And then the Ju88, with huge outlet flaps, well 0% to 100% only makes you lose 3-4kph.

I also agree with the posts above. @SCG_FeuerFliegen Concerning the radiators, how am I supposed to know the cylinder head temperature and the outgoing oil temperature? There seems to be only an incoming oil temperature gauge in the cockpit. Is there any place where I can learn cruise controls for the 8 series? Air Combat Tutorial only deals with takeoff and landing.

Ontopic: R-Hl. - Rakete Hohlladung - shaped charge rocket

Sprgr. - Sprenggranate - fragmentation high explosive.

Edit:

found this info in an older thread: on a warm map, 50% cowl open for level and combat, 80% for climb, 1 min or so of closed cowl in an emergency.

The game states a maximum oil inlet temperature of 85°C. If it would have been neccessary to view the oil outlet or the cylinder head temperature, I would guess they would have added a gauge to do so.

I only look for the oil inlet temperature and the times and never had an engine failure and I never use the HUD. So this one gauge is everything you need.

Yea, as far as engine temperature, I also do just fine only looking at the one gauge we have.  I try to keep it always below 80°, ideally 70°  If it goes past 75° and I don't have the cowl flaps open, I will open them a little bit.  If it goes over 80°, I might open them up all the way.  If it goes over 85°, then you probably need to go easy on the engine for the next few minutes if possible.... if you have no bombs, you can easily cruise at 0.7 ata and it will cool the engine off quick, especially once it gets up to speed.

That's actually a good way of looking at it. ?

There are also differences in velocity and trajectory, correct? I spent a lot of time looking this up but then forgot most of what I'd read :)
