hausnm Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hm, is it still so that I am dead when I reach the water ? Why do I die when I am bailing out over sea ? I remember that pilots did have rescue systems for bailing out over water...... 1
Missionbug Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Still the same and just as annoying as it always was, whether you are actually in enemy territory or over your own lines there should be a dingy, I like to watch the events around me unfold even if I am shot down, it adds completeness to the mission not just to die in the water, I also dislike campaign missions that end before I taxi in to a stop where I want to park. Of all the technical advances this sim has to offer it still falls down on the most rudimentary of things, we all know what those are so I will not repeat here. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. 1 3
Enceladus828 Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 Yep. This issue... Probably the most annoying issue/problem in the game (no offence). I sometimes wonder why this issue made itself into the game, and why after all these years the devs have never fixed it? I really hope that the answer is to this is that the devs tried and tried, but just couldn't fix it in a reasonable time. Salute. 1
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 It is a limitation of the game, but it's not entirely unrealistic as the chances of survival in the water often weren't very high, even in friendly territory. It was probably decided that developing a better system just isn't worth it. 1
Enceladus828 Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 I dunno. I wish that they had it where after parachuting into the water you have an X amount chance of being rescued after ending the mission. After parachuting into rivers on the Rhineland map, I think what’s going on is that when the pilot sinks below a certain depth, it’s fatal. But with rivers and ponds they aren’t that deep, so it’s non-fatal. 1

Especially frustrating landing on a beach, and your plane plops through the sand doing the funky chicken and you drown on the dry beach. 3
Enceladus828 Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 @Jason_Williams and devs. Thank you so, so much for all of your hard work these past years at making this an incredibly great game. You guys are an amazing team, and I proudly salute everyone at 1CGS. I'm sure that this game is probably in most people's Top 3 Best Flight Simulators. No offence here, but this issue is probably one of the most annoying things in this game, and is one of the things that people complain about the most. I understand that you guys don't necessarily have the time, but would it be possible to just briefly explain about it so that one can reference your response in this thread the next time this issue comes about in a thread. An example could be: " We have been aware of this issue for a long time... 'so and so' spent many sleepless nights trying to fix it. In the end we just couldn't fix it in a reasonable time frame. We will eventually fix it, just don't know when". Thank you Jason and keep up the good work. Enceladus P.S. My example may have been a very similar response that you would have typed. 1 1
vonGraf Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Didn't know that. I flew only in Russian winter till now.
