Off_Winters Posted March 29, 2022 Author Posted March 29, 2022 (edited) finished off the Flak 38-39 and the quad 37, and progressed the Desert uniforms of the new included German infantry. new web equipment to replace the leather, sand yellow paint for the gas mask holder and helmet and he has gotten a bit of a tan being out in the sun.. moving onto the officer now, a couple more vehicles and it will be ready to upload shortly. Question, the tree addon, I figure the mountains will be modified stock trees but on the "flatlands" did you use the "palm" trees from meplanes "Stalingrad as the Nile" mod? Set up for use with JSGME. Enable the mod, tick custom plane set in the scenario tab in EMG and you should get historically accurate planes to choose from. Note that the P51B just managed to make into the Tunisian theatre according to my references when the 154th Observation Squadron got their P51Bs April 2 1943 <edit> Sorry slight inaccuracy they didn't get P51Bs instead they got the earlier Allison engine version with 4 20mm cannon (I think but it's hard to be sure) but for our purposes it'll have to be the P51B we have. Any mission created with the FMB will work in any version. regards Rob.

WIP skin. Technically this should be a A36, but beggars cant be choosers.. the default skin will not have the serial number just the national markings. regards Rob. Stonehouse Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 (edited) As far as I can make out the 154th was the first unit to use P51s (albeit A36s) in the Mediterranean and received their first aircraft on April 2nd 1943 (they'd been using A20s and doing anti sub patrols near Oran and then changed to P39s in Jan 1943 operating from bases in Algeria doing recon over western Tunisia). Around March 1943 they changed name from 154th Observation Squadron to 154th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. They received their first A36s April 2 and were a mixed P39/A36 squadron and around the end of April they gave some of their A36s to the 111th Tactical Recon Squadron who were being sent back to French Morocco to defend against a possible invasion from Spanish Morocco. At the same time the 154th began to change over to the recon variant of the P38 (F4) and continued as a (very) mixed aircraft squadron. At 13th May 1943 (about a week after Tunis was liberated) their lineup was: 5 P-51s 1 A-36 11 P-39Ls 3 P-39Ms 8 P-39Ns 1 P-38 1 F-4 1 R-1 1 P-40 So not conclusive but it seems from a historical point of view the 154th was the only A36/P51 operator in combat in Tunisia (which basically means North Africa as the Germans left N Africa after Tunis fell). Other P51 units like the 111th were doing defensive operations outside the active combat zone as I understand things. Obviously doesn't stop anyone doing fictional/semi historical stuff to make interesting missions. Edited April 17, 2022 by Stonehouse

For the pilot/gunner issue. if the other mod you are running is my USSR to RAF set, you need V6 of it to be compatible with current stock game version. but you dont need to have this installed when using the Desert Mod as its already included. regards Rob. 1 1

Off_Winters Posted June 11, 2022 Author Posted June 11, 2022 (edited) Hi All, I have just updated the link on page 1 of thread to the new V7 set, It is compatible with game version 4.705c this is a complete download, please uninstall current V6 files (if you have them) and replace with new V7 files. readme file included.. the main changes are based around vehicle paint schemes, some updated aircraft textures and alpha channels and bringing in current script files to have newly released aircraft display correctly in menu screens etc. and has resaved missions files so they work correctly with current game version. regards Rob. I had tried with an old previous version but the mission hung on the screen after I had selected my tank. - I have to say this looks amazing. DD_Friar Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Salute @Off_Winters Sir, As a keen mission builder I have started to look at your excellent mod and was a bit distracted by the original Kuban names appearing within the mission editor, so, and I hope I have not trod on anyone's toes here, I decided to set about creating a mission building template that all the correct names taken from the map. I have taken the liberty where a town was unnamed on the map and close to another large town of giving it the name "...North" or "...West". I hope that mission builders will find it useful.
