On the Combat Box training server, I tried to discuss my decision making while fighting a Yak7.

It was a multi-threat environment. This guy was attacked by multiple opponents in the same time, he had an awesome situational awareness and piloting skills.
In those cases it is a better idea to position for one good attack, instead of doing many poor attacks as the situation can change very fast, you are very vulnerable during those reposition sequences because the new wild cards tend to attack those who reposition and are slow  at the top of the reposition sequence, even worse they are target fixated (and also are the most visible contacts).
It is not easy to give advice to advanced pilots but it would be a good idea to try to minimize time to kill in those situations instead of focusing about the idea of maintaining of energy advantage at all times, because you were not 1 on 1.
It is a good start to position exactly above him, and wait for him to be distracted or attacked. After a break turn he will be G stressed and energy depleted. Then if you are above him you can position your lift vector as needed. Most good pilots can evade 1 attack but 2 attacks in a row it is much harder.
For example the attack at 5:35 was without any favorable repositioning and was a low probability shot. Desperate yaks will always get the head on.
