SR603-Flowbee Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) A bare metal, unpainted T34 with only some hastily applied red oxide is driven straight from the factory by the workers and into a desperate battle to halt the German invader. See battles for Kiev, Moscow, Stalingrad and siege of Leningrad for accounts. Not surprisingly photos of this are very rare although I did come across one in a book which I now can't find. At Stalingrad and Leningrad T34 tanks were driven unpainted and without gun sights into battle by factory workers. Whether they fought in them or handed them over to soviet crews I'm not sure of. Not all Russian tanks had red oxide applied under the green paint which was frequently applied straight onto bare metal. I figured that in this case the red oxide helps to differentiate the T34 from the grey axis tanks. (While searching for the photograph I came across a number of discussions about this topic. It appears that there is footage in the World at War series of an unpainted tank being driven from the tank factory in Stalingrad. This is probably where the photo was also taken. There is also the thinking that the bare metal would actually be rusty brown in colour which makes sense as it wasn't stainless steel afterall.) http://www.mediafire.com/file/9ev8dn82gaofenc/T34-76UVZ-43_+bare+metal.dds/file I wasn't quite happy with the white star so I changed it. http://www.mediafire.com/file/h6piy6xtnquwwcc/T34-76UVZ-43_+bare+metal+v2.dds/file For completeness here is a totally unpainted T34. http://www.mediafire.com/file/xv2ir1rolljo7h1/T34-76UVZ-43_metal+v4.dds/file Taking into account the further information with regard to the steel rusting this is my final impression of what such a tank may have looked like. http://www.mediafire.com/file/k7u5ooa23vfu363/T34+Factory+unpainted.dds/file I still wasn't 100% on this one so had one last go to get the bare metal rusted look. For me, looking at it in 3D, I now have what I was trying for. Doesn't look as good in a picture but I guess that's true for all. Looks a lot more metallic and rusty than suggested by the brownish green tone of the pic in the low setting sun. http://www.mediafire.com/file/honoj6ennpw949f/T34-76UVZ-43_+bare+metal+rust+v8.dds/file Edited October 18, 2020 by SR603-Flowbee 11 2

SR603-Flowbee Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 (edited) The Germans captured between 400-600 Soviet tanks on the Eastern Front and used them to make up the shortfall in their depleted forces. The markings on the RMASG Centaur and Sherman tanks were used for laying fire from landing craft to targets on the shore. The tanks would be stationary on the landing craft and not intended to go ashore. However, due to the demand for more amour Montgomery ordered the tanks to land with the rest of the troops and the group continued further inland until its disbandment on D+14. SR603-Flowbee Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 (edited) A very photographed Tiger of the 1St company sPzabt.503 first pictured in winter camo on January 1943 in Rostov-on-Don and then at the battle of Kursk in July 1943. From numerous photos online it is notable the number of times new whitewash is applied over the old. Also at Kursk the shell strike seen on the rhs of the turret and the amount of other stuff that has been knocked off like skirting and the box at the back of the turret that has been hastily replaced with one from a MkIII. http://www.mediafire.com/file/dfzxft45n1difjq/PzVIH1+abt.503+123+july1943+v9+green+kursk.zip/file I reworked the camo a bit but there is no colour information available that I can find so just some guess work based on the period and other examples. http://www.mediafire.com/file/gak48y0kce38kgb/PzVIH1+abt.503+123+july1943+v13+kursk.dds/file Edited October 26, 2020 by SR603-Flowbee 13 3

SR603-Flowbee Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) I am continuing to work on the skin as I don't find it quite interesting enough yet so I will recheck the number size. I think they need to be fatter for sure . The longer I work on it the more wear it is going to get though. I also noticed that the metal gun barrel is too bright and have darkened it to the same level of steel as the tracks. ? Edited November 1, 2020 by SR603-Flowbee 2

SR603-Flowbee Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 Ok I reworked the numbers and checked the size against the photos and even made them very slightly larger than original. I had to repaint them as the ones in the photo are unique. I thought they might actually be red but after checking other photos I have I think they are black and have an outline. It is difficult as they all exhibit jpeg artifacts. I'm happy with them as they are now. I darkened the metal on the barrel which is better and played around a bit with weathering. I think it is finished now and hope you like it. http://www.mediafire.com/file/ydkepnty3kfr8kj/Tiger+312+Fgst_Nr.+250235+from+3.s.Pz.Abt.502+v14.dds/file 5 5

The division was formed around a core of units that had fought in the North African campaign, and re-organized into a light armored division in 1943. The division embarked in April 1944 and shipped to various ports in Britain. On 29 July 1944, bound for France, the division embarked at Southampton. During combat in 1944, the division liberated Paris, defeated a Panzer brigade during the armored clashes in Lorraine, forced the Saverne Gap and liberated Strasbourg. After taking part in the Battle of the Colmar Pocket, the division was moved west and assaulted the German-held Atlantic port of Royan, before recrossing France in April 1945 and participating in the final fighting in southern Germany, even going first into Hitler's "Eagle's Nest" (Americans captured the town below). https://www.mediafire.com/file/j7ejf4jngewg7w8/SKINS-SHERMAN-2EDB.7z/file https://www.mediafire.com/file/xrtwwwr2dip88hr/2E_DB_-_HIVER.7z/file Edited November 2, 2020 by CCG_Pips 3 6

Jason_Williams Posted November 17, 2020 Author Posted November 17, 2020 Guys, Ok we're releasing TC as Official this Friday the 20th. Sadly, I haven't had time to evaluate all these skins yet, but I will do so after the launch madness subsides and I can look at each one closer. Thank you to all who made these and submitted them. I promise I will look more closely soon. First priority was get the core game ready. Many of these are really cool looking. Jason 1

There are some bugs, for example: - crew is injured/killed and the tank is damaged upon hit a tent (or destroyed tent) when driving - crew is injured/killed and the tank is damaged upon hit a wooden flatbed when driving - lot of hidden obstacles causing tank damage, usually in the forests and/or edges between forests and meadows.
RIVALDO Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Perhaps a bit premature . But people will stop asking about the release date

DD_Friar Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Many thanks to everyone that has worked on these. We defiantly do need some extra default skins. Playing on line on a county side based map (tress and bushes etc) in summer in a Panzer IV default of sandy yellow does make you stand out a bit Salute to the developers as well for all their hard work in continuing to make Tank Crew an excellent sim. 1

=J18=FritzGerald Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 The sad thing is that when I'm playing with Tomi_099's beautiful frozen tiger skin in multiplayer I was ambushed and destroyed and told that they could spot me from far away because all they saw was a bright yellow tiger in the woods on the other side of the clearing...so sad...I've had to play with the default white skin just so I can actually survive for longer on winter maps. DD_Friar Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 That is the one drawback with skins in GBS everyone needs them installed locally not like in 46' were they were automatically downloaded into a cache folder so you got to see them. Would be great for on line play if this could ever be added here.
Myflight12joes44 Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 hello I'd like to give it a shot, i would need the templates.
Jadgtiger Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) 1. When will these (skins) be implemented in game? We desperately need this. 2. Does each online server allow or disallow skins in the game? And more importantly if the skins become "official" then wouldn't mean that the skins would be allowed for multiplay online? 3. How many developers are working on the game? Edited December 27, 2020 by Jadgtiger
Myflight12joes44 Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Oh I see, it's only me and I'm not a developer. I simply know to to paint, draw, i've made skins for il-2. I have paintshop pro 2018. and I've studied WWII extensively. If you can put me in touch with a developer that would be fine. I'm eager to help if i can.
352ndOscar Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 1 - That’s up to Jason and his team, not us. 2 - (1) Servers don’t care - there is no accommodation for transferring skins a la IL2-46. Skins under IL2-46 were relatively small - 1024 if I recall, so uploading and downloading skins during network sessions wasn’t that much of a issue. IL2-GB skins at 2K/4K represent a network load issue considering the map sizes and mission sizes being downloaded for multiplayer as well. (2) Skins are not mods unless created specifically for a JSGME install, so skins are allowed in multiplayer online (as the previous discussion shows). Making the skins “default choices” in game would mean everyone would get them in their installation and thus they would be visible to all other players. 3 - TC is being developed outside of 1C/777. I don’t think team sizes are know by too many of us. 4 hours ago, joes44 said: Oh I see, it's only me and I'm not a developer. I simply know to to paint, draw, i've made skins for il-2. You can create and post your skins right here in this forum and other areas without getting involved with 1C/777 as a developer.
