Pozsgay Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) Hi Pilots, I created a set of Royal Hungarian Air Forces (Magyar Királyi Honvéd Légierők) 4K skins. There are 97 skins so far in my library I used the public templates as base, then I reworked almost the entire weathering and recreated the alpha channel for my version. I made some smaller adjustments on the existing RHAF textures too based on my research. Click on the image will take You to my homepage for download: https://pozsgay.hu/tartalmak/il_2_sturmovik There are much more screenshots from my RHAF skins on the homepage. The skins are semi historical without side numbers for universal use, based on real RHAF paint schemes. I work in Clip Studio Paint, but if somebody would like to use my versions I can export PSD templates with pleasure (some effects and layers must be reworked for that, but I do that, then it works fine in Photoshop). JG_deserteagle540 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 @Pozsgay, impressive work! The weathering effect looks very realistic! 1

Besides to create Hungarian skins the main issue was to create more realistic looking materials for these planes than the original. They looks great but a bit like varnished exhibition items in a museum In my opinion the alpha channel is much more important than the actaul colors. First I experimented a method for layer structure I can effective work with. I created the birds with unpainted surfaces and raw materials, then I added the paining (then faded and chipped back) then the weathering over these. The alpha channel has the (almost) same layer structure, every material and detail (aluminium, steel, wood, rust, leather, bakelite, oil, grime, matte or glossy paint, etc.) was set for a reflection value I found correct based on my experiences.

Pozsgay Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 I created a few MKHL / RHAF skins for the Bf 109 G-6 Late version. The link will take You to my homepage for download the skins. 1 2
JG_deserteagle540 Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 @Pozsgay, excellent work! I love your skins. I like the detail about the swastika that is painted over, but still recognizable. Thank you very much! 1
Pozsgay Posted January 13, 2021 Author Posted January 13, 2021 I started to create some historical accurate (as it is possible) MKHL / RHAF skins this year. The first one is a Fw 190 F-8 W.554 flown by Lajos Vargha. Here You can find some more screenshots: https://pozsgay.hu/cikk/fw_190_f_8_w554/ from this plane. While collecting resources I decided to recreate all other skins I made earlier, because on a lot of the photos black paint was more glossy than the overall camo. I reworked my layer structure to make it easy to create and adjust this effect with switching on and off and paint layers without creating new alpha channel for each unique painting. This was the main part of the job, now this is tested and working well. There are all of the Fw 190 A-8 skins changed on my download site: https://pozsgay.hu/tartalmak/il_2_sturmovik#Fw_190_A-8 I added two new skins to the collection. MKHL got some used Fw 190 F-8, G-8 and maybe A-8 planes from Luftwaffe and not all of them were repainted with Hungarian markings. 3 2
Pozsgay Posted November 16, 2021 Author Posted November 16, 2021 Yes I already made some A-6 skins. I will upload them soon, but I want to finish my Me 210 Ca-1 comic before 2
Pozsgay Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 I created the base Me 410 A-1 skin for MKHL. Althogh the Me 210 Ca-1 was in use of the Royal Hungarian Air Force the two types are very similar. The skins are here: https://pozsgay.hu/tartalmak/il_2_sturmovik#Me_410 I have reworked almost the entire weathering, replaced the German stencils with Hungarians, and changed some details of the paint scheme according to my archive materials. As the insignias on the fuselage are on the Hungarian plane id different position than the German I moved them back and upward so the current numbering in the simulator can be used with them. The Z-094 was my grandfathers plane (he was gunner) the comic book I drew - the Old Tiger - was published this year in France and Hungary. I will create more field overpainted generic and histrorical skins soon (and upload them with other MKHL skins to HSD). 8 2
CzechTexan Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Pozsgay, I'd just like to congratulate you for all you have done with these Hungarian planes. Now I have to find a way to make campaigns with them! The problem is, I do not have much information on MKHL activity but I am curious. 1

Great work, it was very well done. @CzechTexan, some book references about MKHL Stenge, Csaba. Forgotten heroes: aces of the Royal Hungarian Air Force in the Second World War. Another good way to discover the Royal Hungary Air Force is to play vpmedia's excellent campaign for Il2 1946 (well, at least it is the way i discovered it ) Edited August 2, 2023 by actionjoe 2

Juri_JS Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 I really wish we had a Hungary map in the game. For Il-2 1946 I had build a DGen campaign for the 101st 'Puma' Fighter Group. Fighting both against the Americans and the Soviets was rather interesting. 2

Numerous Soviet, Allied, and Luftwaffe planes were involved in the air battles over Hungary, and also the tank battle near Debrecen was the second largest after Kursk. So it could be an interesting location for virtual fight. 1
