[DBS]Browning Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I will document parts of the build of my latest full length force feedback flight stick here. So far, the first gimbal prototype is ready. 2 3
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 What actuators and electronics are you using?
[DBS]Browning Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 (edited) I'll be using openFFB and I have a couple of second hand DC servodisk motors that should provide plenty of torque with very low cogging. They will be geared somewhere between 7:1 and 1:1 via a pully and wire, depending on how they perform. Depending on the success of the stick, I may make a limited batch for sale. Soilworker Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Very interested! Please keep this updated! I never thought of building my own FFB joystick but that might be a viable option for me.
Mav87th Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Yea please keep posting progress. Sounds very interesting!
[DBS]Browning Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 I did some strength tests yesterday and one part failed. I've designed a reinforced version that is being printed at the moment.
La_Pastafrola Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 This is pretty interesting, following I've been thinking about fiddling with openffb for a while
[DBS]Browning Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Went a bit over kill on the reinforcement, but it's working well. 1 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 S! @[DBS]Browning Never hurts to have some extra reinforcement Harder to add it later. Very interesting project!
[DBS]Browning Posted October 15, 2020 Author Posted October 15, 2020 10 hours ago, La_Pastafrola said: how is the software side working Software is not required, but a control board with its own firmware is. There are a few options for firmware, but the current plan is to use the OpenFFB project, which should be ready in about 6 months.
[DBS]Browning Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 A few more changes relating to part strength. Electronics are all ready, just waiting on a few small parts 1
