WangoTango Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I own all the Great Battles modules (except Flying Circus) on Steam. Would there be a benefit to wait until this is on Steam ? Does it incorporate the other modules ? Or if I buy it stand alone now, I will get the full experience ? Thanks in advance.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 (edited) No, there is no benefit from Steam that I can think of unless you prefer transactions on Steam for some reason. You can buy Tank Crew on the Il-2 Sturmovik website and link your accounts to get access to everything you've purchased through Steam. Tank Crew items can coexist with everything in the Great Battles series. Edited September 17, 2020 by Mitthrawnuruodo
LachenKrieg Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Although the module is still in early access and does have some teething issues to work through, if you are interested in AFV simulation, Tank Crew is well worth the effort IMO. 20 hours ago, WangoTango said: I own all the Great Battles modules (except Flying Circus) on Steam. strykerpsgstrykerpsg Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Now that Tank Crew shows up in Steam, can we link this module with Steam/IL2BOS now and receive updates. This would eliminate an additional install of IL2BOS on my laptop. Thanks in advance and also for finally showing up in Steam. 1

I have (only) the steam version of the game with tank crew running for about two years now. Updates worked as exspected. Maybe I do not understand you correctly?

It required a separate install of IL2BOS to use Tank Crew alone (or so I thought). I also had the Steam version of IL2BOS originally and that was my primary account to fly IL2BOS because we were told that Tank Crew was not supported by the Steam install. Now that TC is listed on the Steam IL2BOS store page, will we get a Steam key for Tank Crew to install and add to the Steam IL2BOS? That would then allow me to delete the duplicate non-Steam IL2BOS on my HHD and only be concerned with updating one IL2BOS file. Hope that makes more sense, though a bit wordy, apologies. 1

The "not supported" part is new to me. I guess I bought the game later than you. Anyways, the steam version is capable of running the tank crew module for a long time now. The only thing you currently cannot do is buy the module via Steam. To be sure just start the steam version and check if tank crew banner (Clash at Prokhorovka) is listed in the main menu. So, how does one apply their ordered copy of Tank Crew from this site, apply the Tank crew module on Steam? Are you inferring that the current key on my purchase also works as a steam key? If that is the correct answer, it's not working. I know there are a few tanks that have been offered for quite some time on the IL2BOS engine, but they are not part of the Tank Crew module, or am I mistaken? After looking at my Steam account, I think I have linked the IL2GB (non-steam) with my steam account. It does indeed show Battle of Prokhorokva in the game menu, but steam library shows N/A. I think I have only made a mess but not holding out till 20 NOV and it's associated release date. Thanks gents for your patience and explanations. Edited November 18, 2020 by strykerpsgstrykerpsg
ulfmat Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 I have IL2GB BoS, BoK on my Steam account. I bought Tank Crew hand have it linked to my Steam account. It runs well. But I can´t install additional Misssions like those Tigre have created. I also downloaded Tank Crew direct from the IL2 Site and found big differencies in Folder structures and content between the Steam- and IL2 download. E.G under the /data/ folder in Steam version Missions and Campains don´t exist. So either I play on Steam without additional Missions or on IL2 version whith limitations because Stalingrad and Kuban Maps are not available.
Guest deleted@188321 Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 I don't think that's true either... I currently have all of Tigre's published missions/campaigns running via my Steam copy of IL-2. 11 hours ago, strykerpsgstrykerpsg said: So, how does one apply their ordered copy of Tank Crew from this site, apply the Tank crew module on Steam? That's working as intended - your content is managed via 1CGS/777's DRM - this may not be reflected (ie. Steam isn't aware of what you've purchased on IL-2's website) in Steam because Steam handles expansions/DLCs/full games differently.
strykerpsgstrykerpsg Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 So, now that Tank Crew is officially released, it does not show up as being in my Steam library. I thought it would link up in my account. I tried using the activation key from this site, but it does not work. Do I need to convert it to a Steam key somehow? Anyone else? Jason_Williams Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 Guys, If you bought from the website you did not buy a Steam key and we do not offer Steam keys for website purchases. If you own BOS on Steam you can however link your Steam account with your account here and all your content will be available to you including TC if you purchased it here. Jason

Jason Jason, Thank you for the quick reply. I did indeed buy here and linked my account on Steam to BOS. It shows in the upper right corner, in red, but in library it does not show as purchased. So, will I now have access to the full TC content inside BOS as I would in GBs? I would like to delete the GB install and save some HD space. Also, thank you for the great update. The videos I've seen are fantastic!

According to Mr. Jason Williams, stated here on this forum not long ago, this is NOT possible. You can link your Steam account to your account here, but NOT the other way 'round. So: STEAM account --> IL2 account: Yes IL2 account --> STEAM account: Nope Cheers
