Any news on the next generation of VR headsets & graphics cards?

I am currently playing with a Pimax5K+ VrR headset, and a 1080 card and am reasonably  happy with it for now.I'm not a fan of the SDE or currently low FPS on high & ultra settings, so sometime in the near future( 6 months or so ) I am hoping to replace both. I can't afford the newest version of the Pimax with all its costly accessories , so was hoping Oculus or one of the other VR companies either has now or will have a sparkling new VR headset that does away with SDE and improves clarity all around at a reasonable price? I assume most new sets will require a new 2080 ( or I guess a future 3080) graphics card, but there is such a variety of cards and prices that i don't know where to begin , but price is definitely to be considered.I play only GB's & CloD so perhaps that is a factor to be considered?Any ideas of what I should be looking ourt for or what if any graphics card I should purchase in the meantime that might improve my Pimax performance in the meantime & would be good for a few years into the future?

HP Reverb G2 will be coming out soon, maybe in Oct. Sounds like it will be tops for image clarity and reasonable price. 600 dollar headset,

I have one on pre-order. Seems to be the headset of choice for simulation games these days.

Facebook Connect is next week. It is anticipated they will reveal a new Quest headset. Quest can be played via Oculus Link for PC, however

at a little loss in performance dept. No idea what a new updated Quest might offer. No idea if they will reveal anything regarding an updated Rift or not. I personally doubt it as seems of late all focus for Oculus has been on the Quest device.

Can you give me a link for pre-order ReverbG2? Are they offering any discount for pre-order?

What about the graphics card they recommend?

Thanks!

Check out Frame Chasers on You Tube. He has an over clocked 2080ti and he says can perform on par with the 3080 without RT and the other bells and whistles. He claims the 3080 is just an up powered 2080TI.

So maybe get a cheap 2080ti and OC it. to run the G2.

Any body here running the G2 on the 2080ti? If so, what kind frames and settings?

Just did a quick Best Buy check on 2080ti cards & the ones they offer were pretty pricey ($1300.00+)...do you have any to recommend in the $5-600.00 range that might work fairly well?

Over at Ebay there are pre-owned cards in my price range however... I imagine when the 3080's come out in force there will be more of these available too ...Pros/ Cons?

Do not buy a graphics card until October. Then the actual performance from the new 3000-series cards will be known, AMD competition will be known, and pricing will start to settle down.

The only thing I would consider right now Blitze is a Reverb G2 preorder, and you need to be really sure you can deal with the decreased FOV compared to the Pimax. I went Rift S -> Artisan -> Index and I don't think I can really live with any FOV less than the Index. The G2 is a little bit less than the Index, and a lot less than the 5K+

Click on the Pre-Order button, and it will take you to the Connection site who is handling the pre-orders for the states.

No discount I am aware of.

GPU recommended not sure, probably 1080 Ti.

Would be best though to wait and grab one of the new 30x cards coming out later this month.

I'm on the sidelines waiting to hear what players have to say about the performance of the new cards with IL2 in particular. I don't doubt that the 3000 series is going to be a vast improvement over my current 1080 ti, but is it going to make IL2 perform any better in VR? Not holding my breath; I suspect my 9700K will still be my bottleneck.

And yea I pre-ordered a Reverb G2 :)

If its clearer & does away with SDE it would be worth it..In any case it wouldn't be the first headset I returned after a test hop. After initial Oculus Rift I think I tried 3 others before settling for the Pimax5k+ and even then it was a bit of a struggle to make it usable.Still after almost two years it has served me well....

Reverb G2 in conjunction with NVidia 3080 when they arrive are probably the best VR solution that doesn't break the bank.

I have the G2 on Pre-order hopefully for an early October release and intially I'll be keeping my 1080Ti and seeing how it copes with the increased resolution from my current Rift S.

The thing with the new NVidia cards is that they will actually be cheaper than the current slew of RTX cards so it's pointless to get say an 2080Ti and over-clock it, just buy a 3080 and be done with it.

Yes that describes me to a “T”. Have there been reports on how well it handles Screen Door Effect??

@Blitzen maybe the MRTV videos on YouTube?

Sebastian made a number of videos comparing the Reverb G2 to different Headsets and also analyzing its quality through the lens.

We already figured out the Reverb performance stuff as the G1 is the same resolution as the G2.  Any overclockable Intel 4 core or better at 5.0ghz or better will yield optimal performance.  IL2 puts most of the work on a single core.  A 1080ti will work well but not at full settings.  It is good with clouds to low, no AA, and no grass.  I'm hoping the 3000 series will let me run all ultra settings.

My problem is I am not able to settle with 3080 when there is something called 3090

And I know my cpu then will be the weakest point.

Then if you double your money you get a ryhsen 9 or I 9 with a 3090 and 2 tb ssd.

So if I upgrade I want 3090 to be at least two times better than what I get.

Then what am I upgrading for¿

A slightly better VR ? I really am In doubt about this. I feel you are a bit better off with your pi ax than I with my Rift S

I personally thinkI am better off waiting and see what going to happen next before I do anything.

I think that'll be a realization of many folks here knowing the Il2 is CPU-bound more than anything. It'll might get you running at a higher MSAA... possibly... not even sure of that.  My 2080ti maxes out at 2xMSAA currently in Il2...

A 3080 should be able to run a Reverb at full graphics settings.  A 3090 should be more on top of that for a premium price.  I might get one, we'll see how much better it is and if it is worth it.  It might be something more oriented towards a graphics intensive work station with all of that extra ram nobody will ever use.  This was the case with the Titan series of cards, not sure what Nvidia is trying to do here just yet.

What SDE, effectively there isn't any in the G2...?
