Somehow my icons no longer identify  aircraft. I can get the red and blue triangles but not ac type. Any ideas about how to restore?

Type doesn't show up until you get close. Does the name not appear regardless of range to target?

Have you had any mods installed? There's one here which removes all text from the icons, so make sure all the files have been removed if you've used it before. VREM can also remove the text (though in a different way), though you can configure it not to if you want.

Sorry, I put the wrong link in my above post. It's the correct one now, this one. VREM is the new 3DMigoto, mostly the same functionality but with zoom features removed.

Thanks for your response. I had downloaded those icon mods. I deleted them from the Mods folder, but it has made no difference. I still have only small triangles. Have I missed something?

A full uninstall and reinstall is the best way to fix mod related problems. Don't expect much support for problems caused by 3rd party mods.

I take it you're using JSGME? Did you use that to uninstall the mods before you deleted them from the mods folder? If not then the files are still installed so the mod will still be active. If you still have the mod, take a look at it and see what files it has. Delete the corresponding files from your IL-2 folder and you should be back to vanilla.

Thankfully there are those in online communities like this one who are more than willing to try and help people out with issues like this. So, he's come to the right place. There's absolutely no sense in reinstalling the whole game if he can instead spend five seconds removing a few leftover files.
