Crome Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) No matter what mission, aircraft or map is selected since purchasing and installing the new expansion I cannot seem to get airborne in the slightest, everything loads just fine up to the map screen then after you click fly, the screen flickers and sometimes you treated to a momentary flash of the game environment and cockpit before it CTDs and at other times it just crashes instantly. I've tried everything, no events are showing in Event viewer, Windows has had a reset install done it, all background apps are shut and windows defender exceptions are in place for the CLoD executable and even the entire CLoD folder too. I've tried unplugging all my peripherals including removable hard drives and flight gear and TrackIR and I've killed every process from Oculus to LG-GHub to try and get the game to run. Steam and Discord overlay are off all other launchers are shut. Services and Start-up apps have been cleaned and I've even deleted the CLoD folders in my documents and reinstalled from scratch twice via Steam. All these things resulted in the exact same CTD, really running out of rope to play with here so any suggestions are welcome. Specs are: Windows 10 (entirely up to date and freshly reset as per) i7 6700k at stock speeds GTX 1080 42gb of RAM at 3000mhz Monitor is a 165hz 2560x1440 with my photo editing monitor being the same res but locked to 60hz, obviously CLoD runs on the main monitor and hasn't ever made use of my secondary. Game is running off my ADATA NVME root drive with plenty of room to spare (1TB roughly). Flight hardware is a little hodgepodge I'll admit I run an X-56 Throttle with T-Rudder flight pedals and an old Microsoft FFB1 that uses a converter made using an Arduino board to make it work over USB but every sim CLoD included has run just fine with this set up until today. Game log files simply show: ------------ BEGIN log session [2020-08-07 18:58:19] ------------- [18:58:26] INI: HotKey 'LUFA_Joystick_wFFB-9A870D6F+Key0' is unknown [18:59:17] Loading mission C:\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\parts\bob\mission\quick\001 - Free Flight - Channel.mis ... [18:59:25] Server: Crome676 [UK] will fly for the Red forces. [18:59:27] Mission loaded. time = 10.332 [18:59:30] Battle starting... As I said I'm utterly at my wits end with whats causing this crash so if anyone has any suggestions I'll take 'em with reckless abandon lol. Edited August 7, 2020 by Crome
SCG_Tzigy Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I only tested briefly yesterday and already had one CTD.....? I DID change AA setting in the game before the crash... Good luck to us i guess...

Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted August 7, 2020 Team Fusion Posted August 7, 2020 Hello Crome You do have a ton of programs running.... for example, what is "postgres.exe". Do you have any video post processing program running? Anything you can shut down is good. It only takes one 32 bit program to cause an issue. You mention 'Gamebar'.... if you can uninstall it again... and then go into your registry and delete it. Forgot to mention: Do you have an up to date version of Microsoft Net Framework?
Crome Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) Postgres is an SQL Database manager, this machine is my only desktop as such its used for work as well as play, its entirely open source and has never caused a conflict with an app in my entire time using it before so it seems very unlikely not to mention that its nature as SQL Database Management System it would seem it'd be almost impossible for it to affect CloD unless theres some serious Spaghetti going on somewhere in the code for it to start interacting with an RDBMS running on same system. Postgres isn't even an actual running app its just a monitoring process. Gamebar is part of the Xbox app that is now packaged in to windows to my knowledge beyond disabling it in the registry as I suggested you can't uninstall it? EDIT: By video post processing what sort of program are you referring to? Something like Reshade? If so no unfortunately thats not the solution for me as I've never used it/have never gone in much for its "improvements." Edited August 7, 2020 by Crome

Hello Crome Can you go into your Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/ folder and look in the 'cppcrash' folder? Delete the contents, restart and play the game till you have a crash. Then go back to cppcrash, copy the report in the folder, PM me and I'll give you an email you can send it to. Thanks PS: I assume you have verified your install?
