In the 5 training missions are you supposed to be able to pick your AC or not? Mine - sometimes it's Tiger Moth and sometime it's Hurricane, but it's random and the screen might show one but the mission starts with the other. Sometimes it shows Beaufighter, but never starts with that - Im assuming your not supposed to pick your AC and the screens are just being glitchy?

IMO - Better forget this "Training" module, will not train you in nothing, unless maybe patience (loose).

The ideia behind this module is good - a scripted "instructor"  telling you what do do, and he (AI) assuming control after you do what he instruct;  but the ideia was not polished and result bugged.

The first mission assume that you know how set and use that awkward British P-8 compass (a left hand thing), because starting saying fly "heading 60"... some colored circles on sky help, but if you don't take the commanded direction will miss.

Some of the associated scripts - buried in games gut's, is out of order and the result is weird, so in the second mission

"instructor" is teaching you how start engine, but he is always start taxiing, resulting that what you hear and read don't match with is happening.

After you take off the 'instructor" assume control for landing,  but he do a barrel roll for loose altitude and crash the plane...

3rd mission went well, just keep in the "tunnel in the sky".

In the 4 th mission "Fly solo" you start in a parked Hurricane, with engine off, so is assumed that you know how start the engine, that you need request "Wheel chocks" for speed warm-up, that an invisible "parking brakes" is ON, that you know how use British  differential brakes for do a Length taxi with an S in the middle:

That you know how set propeller pitch for take-off, how trim, how set flaps for take off... and again how use Compass and DG that came un-synchronized,  how deal with the restrict cockpit visibility for read this instruments hidden behind control column, to be able fly following "instructor" directions just after take-off.

Well, if you do this and recover Hurricane from a spin, you receive your wings.  :pilot:

@Sokol1 Hey - thanks for the detailed response. I didn't realize it was more like a scripted campaign type thing, rather than plugging any AC of choice into any of the five missions. The buggy menu made it unclear to me.....

You can fly the training missions, or you can just select one of the missions which allow you to take off in an aircraft, and then pick the type you want.

Then select the aircraft flashcard manual for the type you are using and use that as a guide.

It looks like in the ME something simple like any AC on any field is done the same way as was in the old sim - I'll do that...
