Dagwoodyt Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Is loss of access to custom belts what was meant by the promised "simplification" of the weapons menu or am I just not able to locate the relevant option menu?
56RAF_Stickz Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 loadouts in Main menu select options then select plane and there you go. Remember to use the save as option to give access/recall it

Remember to use the save as option to give access/recall it I don't see any logic to the change in procedure unless it means that it is no longer necessary to enter a MP server to create persistent loadouts for each aircraft variant. If I want to use the same ammo belting for several Hurri variants can that be done and if so how? Edited August 6, 2020 by Dagwoodyt

I cheat, and do it for one, save it with non duplicated name then just copy/paste the relevent text in for all the others - or use the loadout managers but that is also necessary for each aircraft (and not sure if it will right work now). Just done it in actual fact for both tomahawks and the beaufighters. But obviously need care as hurris do not all have some weapons. I think at one point years back I used it to do all hurris and spits in half hour session. I pretty much only select AP and de wilde for A2A guns anyway. For GA I have some ball plus some tracer in outer guns Bit confused because I used to be able to change without necessarily going online (although I did play online so not sure if I skewed my success/memory by that) by using the same options menu. The loadout screen for single missions did not do anything, I wasnt actually sure it was even displaying correct/current loadout. You had to ensure select the loadout name. So I have not actually changed a procedure - but its many months since I altered anything. I know someone else put on forum about not having bombs with single missions if changing aircraft and I told him how to make that work in similar fashion via options and saving multiple loadouts. On another subject, you dogfight mission stopped crashing my machine after I either hand added the 2 missing guns or by changing the selection in QMB to one of my loadouts and saving it. So do not know what caused that (and it still runs now). But it wont make them fight over the airfield. Bit of a shame but then again I never came across any flight sim AI that once given land command had an override. It will probably come some time, but whether I still here to see it - so many things offline people need for AI that aborting landing is probably fairly low down.
Dagwoodyt Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) @56RAF_Stickz I'm just stunned at how illogical this situation seems. If there are multiple Hurri and Spitfire variants that possess identical armament why shouldn't the same custom loadout be available as a custom selection for all of them? Obviously variants with different armament would need to be belted on a case by case basis. So now, with more variants, there is more repetitive, unnecessary work the user must perform. The plane loadout presets are saved in the "user.ini" file (\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover). For the planes that share the same type and number of weapons, you can copy/paste a preset loadout you have configured in game. Here is an example with the Spit MkI where i copy/paste my "Mikmak_belt" preset from the Spit MkIIa which has been configured from in game loadout manager.
FTC_Karaya Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 As Mikmak says you can copy/paste the beltings of one aircraft to another within the user.ini (provided they have the same gun arrangement). There was a 3rd party program that let users set up their belts via a GUI. This hasnt been updated in a while though. Would be great to have for 5.0.
Dagwoodyt Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 Thanks for the help! It really should not need to be done this way after all these years.
