Audgisil Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Here's an interesting little article about "Sherman was Right" from my home town paper (in German). https://www.hz.de/meinort/hermaringen/neue-details-zum-mustang-absturz-1945-aufgetaucht-31531384.html
Tempus Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Thanks for this article Audgisil. Mein deutsch ist null, but google translator has done its job pretty well. Really interesting history story. I've always thought the mate in the picture was the same who crash landed in Hermaringen. Always a pleasure these kind of further information that enrich even more the skin.
Tempus Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) *** *** 56th. Fighter Group 63th. Fighter Squadron, Thanks to BlitzPigVoidcraker who found this error Edited September 28, 2020 by Tatata_Time No freedom expression NO CONTENT SHARING 3 1
BlitzPigVoidcracker Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Thanks for sharing! That first photo has got it's printed info mixed, i think. She belonged to the 56th Fighter Group and the 63rd Fighter Squadron and not vice versa as printed there... 1
Tempus Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 Thanks for fixing the info. I've directly done a cut and paste from where I found the pics and I didn't contrast it in other sources.
Tempus Posted July 26, 2020 Author Posted July 26, 2020 (edited) This is a rare occcasion when history gives us the opportunity to reflex same A/C in 2 different WW2 moments in time. First skin is when Luther H. Richmond was a Major and the second one is when he was promoted to Lt. Colonel and how Ground Crew reflected in the A/C skin the changes in pilot's rank, in missions marks, in ID marks and also in the darker green tone of the skin due the extreamly care & maintenance of that Fighter Group Ground Crews put in their Babies (they Waxed all A/C's). Enjoy first skin til you get bored.... then you can promote yourself to the second one ;))). Edited September 28, 2020 by Tatata_Time No freedom expression NO CONTENT SHARING 3 1 1
Tempus Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 (edited) "Hun Hunter XIV", this is the 14th. A/C called Hun Hunter from 16 in total, all flown by Lt. Col. Gilbert O. Wymond, 9th. Army, 65th. FS, 57th. FG based in Corsica For Those who want to see this bird featured " in action" in the Hollywood film "Thunderbolt" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR6lWSIWUOA&list=WL&index=41&t=0s "Fat Cat", 509th. FS, 405th. FG, Summer 1944, flown by Capt. Henry Bakken Main Work in these 2 skins have been in the Alpha Layers: I' ve tried to reach a lightning balance in "Hun Hunter" to make it a bit less shining or give it a more natural light reflection that explains a natural daily operative from a very dusty airfield. On the second one, just the opposite: in the original pics this bird seemed to be parked in a junkyard patiently waiting its end, so I've tried to enhance more the fighter part than the "JOHN DEERE tractor hard life in the country". Even so I've kept its nose scars as a good Mice Hunter. Happy Hunting in both!! Tail number 227995 from the 311th FS, 58th. FG. I haven't found any further info for this A/C Edited September 28, 2020 by Tatata_Time No freedom expression NO CONTENT SHARING 5
FurphyForum Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 @Tatata_Time; Have you or are you going to update these great skins, as per the fault with this template? Thanks
Tempus Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 When I publish them, I consider them definitives unless someone tell me about any error or share with me any further information. Most of the time when I upload a skin I got no 100% of the info and here in the forum sure someone else knows about that A/C story more than me. So don't hesitate to ask me whatever you want. As a wise mate said me once: there's no stupid question only stupid answers. Thanks for appreciating the work put in them.

Tempus Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) OHHHH LORD!!!!!, Thanks FurphyForum for showing me this issue. After 15 mins. I've detected the origin of this template issue. That little panel corner generates a big pain in the 6!!!!, technical and tedious fixing cause it affects to the skin template also (not always) the Alpha template. The issue is the layer group PANEL LINES & RIVETS and specifically in the "New Ports D22" Layer. I share to other skinner how to mend it but I heavily encourage to the Developers team to fix it and release a new official template version. Procedure for fixing official template: 1- DUPLICATE layer "New Ports D22". I insist in duplicate this layer cause if you only cut, copy, paste the specific part, at least in GIMP ( I ignore if it happens in Photoshop or others image manipulating programs) the cutted, copied pasted layer will loose the transparency characteristics from the New Ports D22 original layer. BEST& FAST WAY DUPLICATE Layer. 2- Move the duplicated layer to the correct place (picture #2). DO NOT MERGE original layer with Duplicated one or you will generate same issue explained in point 1. 3- Remove the unnecessary part of the DUPLICATE layer (rest of panels) 4- This issue also affects the "USAAF- Neutral Grey" Layer (Shown in picture #3) 5- SAVE CHANGES in the Template file. 6- Repeat the process, unless step 4, in the ALPHA_ PUBLIC Template. Thanks again to FurphyForum. I hope I will publish a new post with the 2.0 skin Versions ASAP due is going to be a huge work fixing one by one all skins and reupload them. I've also removed the old download links til I fix this. I guess in less than 48 hours. Edited July 30, 2020 by Tatata_Time

Beebop Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 (edited) How long does it take to get an "access permit" from Google? I like several of these skins but am denied access. Ive asked for "permission" but have yet to receive and email granting it. I don't want to make yet another "account" with yet another website. Edited September 9, 2020 by Beebop 2
