I.JG3_CDRSEABEE Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Is there a way to toggle through the flight leader orders on a hat switch and select? Kind of difficult in VR to find the correct buttons. Seems simple to program into the game. Would be good for gestures also.
dburne Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) For VR especially Voice Attack is great. Not too complex to set up. I use it for my flight commands. Edited July 14, 2020 by dburne
Stoopy Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) ^^^^^ This! ^^^^^ I ignored the references and advice about Voice Attack as a VR user but finally tried it out (it's C H E A P!) and am totally digging it. It's soooo easy to set up commands and has an incredible amount of features. There is also a very comprehensive profile for IL2 shared by @336th_Ripper* in the VR forum that can be downloaded and you can use it all or import specific commands into your own custom profile. Whether you are a VR user or not, it has to be the most comprehensively useful, brilliant and highest quality piece of software (including thorough documentation) that I have ever bought for such a paltry sum. Even does speech to text and text to speech conversion for assisting with chat messages or setting up audible feedback into your commands. I love saying "clean up the aeroplane" right after I rotate off the runway, and seeing the flaps and gear raise, nav lights shut off and a female voice says to me "Go get 'em Stoopy!". Puts a smile on my face all the way to my flaming death over the strike target. ? Edited July 14, 2020 by Stoopy 2

I’m not going to say it was the easy way, but it works great in VR It’s a 20 button programmable keypad combined with a 20 key momentary USB switch in a Warthog throttle housing. I.JG3_CDRSEABEE Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 That's nice. But it should be easy to see the popup menu in the headset and scroll through it all. 2 hours ago, Stoopy said: ^^^^^ This! ^^^^^ I ignored the references and advice about Voice Attack as a VR user but finally tried it out (it's C H E A P!) and am totally digging it. Can't be worse than my mother in law in the other room with the TV volume cranked up full blast to watch her old Western shows, and my wife yelling over the gunfire and whooping Indians to talk back and forth at her the whole time. The speech recognition handles that all pretty well. And at the end of the day, getting sniped by the ever-patient Hartmann's playing Campout Box is peaceful, blessed relief from all that. ? Back on topic I can see why it makes a case for maybe a simplified or expedited key command. Edited July 15, 2020 by Stoopy
I.JG3_CDRSEABEE Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 Ok I got it from steam. Got a profile for il2 from the forums here. Question. When giving orders to the flight, or gunners, does the command show up on the screen?

Yes, as long as you have the hud on (H key to toggle), you will see your command shown on the left hand side of your screen. 1
