Price was shot down over the Ruhr Valley in April 1945 and spent 9 days as a POW. All nose art was done by hand. Two additional names adorn the starboard side of the aircraft, 'Miss Josephine' was the wife of his crew chief, S/Sgt. Albert Giesting, and 'Hedy' the wife of his assistant, Sgt. Jack Gillenwater. Laing shared his aircraft with Lt. Powell when he first arrived at Bodney. A slightly different version of Punchy's nose art is also found on his P-51B and D.
