I've a classic, decades-old CH setup, using the Fighterstick, Pro Throttles and Pedals combination.  I also use TIR.

All of these devices work correctly in that "other" simulation.

In this sim, when I map keys to certain hardware buttons, the "settings" menus in "key mapping" both sees and records the correct key bindings that I assign.

However, when I enter the game, only certain hardware items occasionally work (mostly the rudder pedals).  None of the flight controller key bindings or axis register with tech chat or cockpit animations (can't see the flight stick move, or the throttle, but I can see cockpit animations that show the rudder pedals sometimes moving correctly), nor do the equivalent keyboard commands for the same functions.

I see certain messages, in tech chat, if I use "autopilot"; for instance, I can see various throttle settings, flaps, and gear trim changing as the "autopilot" commands them to, but none of my controllers work, nor do either any of the CH devices nor the keyboard itself.

The "devices" text files shows the correct controllers.  This happens whether I run CH Control Manager in the background.or not.

So, nothing from any hardware device registers, not any CH piece and not any keyboard command.

I'd like to see if I can unscramble this without re-installing the whole (now rather large) simulation.

Any suggestions?

Reading your issues I cannot think of what may be amiss. But I can say I use the CH stick, throttle and pedals with Control Manager in this game ( on win 10) and they work flawlessly. I hope you get it sorted out.

Hi @mpdugas,

When you download a map with Control Manager, is it then setting it to "Mapped" mode?  All of my CH devices work fine in Mapped mode.

I start with CH Control Manager, then add the three controllers, calibrate and apply that, then enter the game.  It works in that "other" sim.  When I have three controllers up, and try to download that calibrated map, the CH Control Manager tends to freeze solid.

Just for hoots, I tried your suggestion:  I loaded all three controllers.  The option to download the map disappeared.  When I tried to calibrate each of the combined controllers, the program froze.

I'd like to use the option where I can directly map keyboard strokes to each controller button, but my version of CH Control Manager (ver 4.55) no longer has that editor.

Do you, by chance, have (or use) one of the earlier versions?

I only have and use Control Manager 4.55a, and I still have a copy of the installer, too. I sometimes also use the Wayback Machine internet archive to look up old forum posts at ch-hangar.com, though of course they predate Il-2 BoX

As CH support say, Manager is no longer full compatible with Win10 (and will be not updated because developer retire) - neither required, since axes and buttons can be mapped individually direct in game controls GUI; but users found that may work with some workaround, have you tried this:

"I use Control Manager on my Windows 10 computer, and the only issue I have is that often upon launching Control Manager I will find the Off Mode, Direct Mode, and Mapped Mode buttons greyed out. Hitting the Windows key and typing STORE will open the Microsoft Store, which in turn brings back those three buttons."

well, I do declare; I'll give that a try!

The bizarre saga that is my trusty CH menagerie continues.  The controllers sometimes appear in the Windows Game controllers utility, but can't be calibrated there; it simply shows that W10 recognizes that the controllers are present.

If I install CHCM after seeing the presence of the controllers in the windows device manager and control panel, it intercepts calls to calibrate and redirects them to the CHCM utility.  I can calibrate them there, but if I download a map, the CHCM freezes, so I just leave it up-and-running.  Generally, the DCSW and IL-2 apps see the controllers, and the in-game animations work.

This is where it gets a bit weird:

As an example, if I map the rudder trim functions to buttons on the Fighterstick, then trying to use those buttons in game has no effect.  The keyboard equivalent of rudder trim does work, and I see its results in techno chat.  However, if I also map, say the autopilot function to another button on the same controller, it works from the controller and keyboard both just as it should; both leave techno chat commentary regarding the autopilot.

I have no idea what the problem is, but it never manifests the same way twice.
