The P47 on 150 is as fast as the D9

56. AI fighter pilots won’t chase its target too far from their assigned route or area of operations;

I'm wondering if this has caused AI in my missions to become very very passive... I have waypoints with "low" priority and earlier they have started to fight whenever enemy comes close; but now I see them just cruising around the area.

It's not available, because Ninth Air Force didn't use 150-grade fuel on the Continent. So far as I know, they also didn't use it when they were based in England.

Yes, I think only 8th AF Jugs used it. Have not read anything about the 9th using it while based in Uk before the invasion.

The 8th AF after April 1944 had "only" four groups suceptible of using 150 oct. 56,78, 353 and 356th. The 56th kept them for the rest of the war while the 78th changed over to -51s in January and the other two around Oct-Nov.

Still a good number of planes using it. On average fighter strength in each group totalled around 75 airplanes per group (I read that the 56th had between that and 100 planes) so 300 planes from May to November, down to 75-100 from Jan 45 (although here mixed with the -47M).

Possibly. Try setting the waypoint to 'medium'. :coffee:

Umm, what do I achieve with that? With "medium" they are (at least should be) defending themselves in case of an attack, but they do not engage at will. That's totally different function.

Not, sure....  just putting forth the idea. ?

He's right, use the waypoint on low settings.

Thanks, that clears it up. So only 8th AF P47s (D22/D28) get 150oct fuel, right?

8th AF only, starting in late June/early July.

Correct, but since all the units in career mode are 9th AF (or under the operational control of 9th AF), 150-grade fuel is not available.

Yes, but the do not work the same way anymore. Actually "Low" and "Medium" feel like they are both "Medium" now. Just reported this on the bug reports.

I see. Then we need a MOD for that to allow single player career users to unlock it, if they so desire.

Does the  new updated clouds interfere with the CloudsV12.1 and Cumulunimbus mods already installed ?

I noticed this just this evening - the upper left portion of the blue field, and the forward end of the bar on the national emblem have a bit of a black outline, that I believe is an error on the skin (this is the “Hart” skin).

This black outline only appears on the port side of the aircraft, the starboard side is fine.

It’s still my favorite skin!             ?

 It's  better to have the mods disabled before (using JSGME for example) and re-enabled again after the update. At least in this way the cloud mod is always working well for me.

It is always strongly recommended to disable all mods, before running an update.

Can someone test if the Razorback can kill the Ferdinand by bouncing .50-cal bullets from the ground into the soft underbelly of the beast, as was historically possible?

You're more likely to do damage from hitting the roof than you ever are by trying to bounce rounds off the ground, it simply wouldn't work.. Not sure how thick the Ferdinand top armor is but if it's thin enough you could do some minor damage. I know things like Panzer IV have pretty thing roof armor iirc.

Either way, best just to use a bomb. Leave the 50s for light targets and aircraft.

You guys are aware of a concept called "irony"? I'm pretty sure Freycinet is aware that this 50cal thingy is a pure myth.

BTW... I totally love the Razorback! It has so much style!

Yeah, the old "50 cals kill Tiger Tanks" trope.

We had some fun with that one on the Ubisoft forums back in the old days. :biggrin:

Not sure about problems associated with it but I would like to know more about this, specifically, what are the parameters around assigned route or area of operations?  Assigned route is fairly straight forward, as this is presumably based on waypoints and the paths between.  What is area of operations?  Can that be defined in the mission (that would be REALLY nice to assign area of operations on a per flight basis)

Well, 8x .50 HMGs do dispense a lot of irony.

Baldrick, have you no idea what irony is?  "Yeah. It's like goldy and bronzy, only it's made of iron." ?

Now... if I bounce a 76mm APHE round under the tank? Would that stand a chance?

Also, I'm starting to wonder if a T-70 would indeed be playable... at least against StuGs... as the way I manged to take out the Ferdinand was by driving fast and forcing it to do a deflection shot (it actually hit me with an AP round - but the exact place of hit combined with the double-angling of the T-34's armour saved me) and I was able to take out its running gear and get behind it.

I like this version. Everything is smooth. I got good framrates. The razorback is so much meaner looking than the bubblejug. The canopy is just so sharp and angry looking. Can't wait for the template!

Well done to everyone involved for finally fixing the graphical issues with planes flying in clouds. They've been an eyesore for so long, but at last, we've got rid of those blocky planes and those flickering black blobs.

I think this is quite a major improvement for the sim and it looks so much better. I run high settings and clouds set to high and everything looks good.

Great job !

Thanks

We just published a hotfix:

  • The bug that caused the coaxial MG of a tank to stuck in a reloading state when its ammo is spent has been fixed;

  • Numerous ammo type changes for the main gun won't cause repeated reloading;

  • Firing the last round in an MG by a short trigger click won't cause the next magazine to load twice;

  • Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.M bow MG has correct firing effects;

  • Double image fixed on “Hart” skin for P-47D-22;

  • The default view position and predefined snap views on P-47D-22 have been corrected;

  • 'Shimmering' of the Novorossiysk harbor when viewed from far and medium distances has been minimized;

  • Framerate in windowed mode is no longer capped at 60 Hz on some configurations if the display supports a higher refresh rate;

  • When joining a multiplayer server in VR you should see the plane hangar correctly (and not from outside);

  • A hole in the Sd.Kfz.184 driver hatch has been removed;

  • The bug that caused AI-controlled fighters flying with offensive tactics (Low task setting in Mission Editor) to ignore enemy targets;

  • The distance (and time) an AI-controlled fighter can deviate from its route to pursue a target has been reduced and now depends on the AI skill level;

  • A random AI bug that could potentially cause an application crash has been fixed.
