What do you mean with required?

Got it. But I have some doubts: If all XIV were to be equipped with clipped wings from January 45 on, this would mean all bubble canopy XIV would need to have clipped wings. I need to check, but I'm quit sure that this is not the case.

The wingtips are interchangeable.

I am betting take off, landing, and ground handling is going to present some challenges with this new bird...

I'm looking forward to my squad mates feeding in rudder then realising that the Griffon spins the other way.

Will the Spitfire Mk XIV engine controls have the propellor speed control interconnected with the throttle, the override lever?

I'm not so keen on the bubble top, they create drag, so bubble tops are a bit slower and less stable, therefore I'm looking forward to p-51B/C as well.

I love clipped Spits. It's high in the favorites list.

The Mk Ia Spitfire is my favorite of all warbirds.

Should it not read ‘British’ rather than ‘English’?

@Jason_Williams A bit of model pedantry, but it appears the ailerons are too long? The XIV was a development of the Mk VII/VIII airframe which was only tangentially related to the Mk IX, and had shorter span ailerons (1 rib shorter)

The model seems to have the Mk IX ailerons:

de0mr4m-07dcfff4-f7fd-4f10-8e0f-620ca56cde0mr4k-38c4f86c-1454-4c72-9272-f8a23a6c

Otherwise this model is perfect, and 100% the best Griffon Spitfire I've seen.

I remember reading that with the early Spitfires... (as well as balooning of the aileron fabric) at higher speeds the pilot didn't have enough muscle to move the control column enough to get full movement / deflection of the ailerons. It would make sense that they would reduce the span of the ailerons on later models so that there wouldn't be such high control forces.

Reduced span ailerons might actually mean a quicker roll rate, or that's how the logic works in my mind :joy:
