Where to report TKs or unrespectful players.

Hi all,

I just come back from online so pissed off. I take a PE2 and fly a bomber mission from air start to bomb the german base.

While was setting altitude and direction and whatsoever I did I see the message of that "Player" penalized to shoot a friendly.

That guy then attack another player and got the same message.

I just inform the German players that I going to bomb the base and my aprox location to make a nice intercept mission for the guys(I was thinking that they were practicing shooting in between them but looks like I was wrong) and get them out of kill theirsefls.

Then that guy come, intercept me, kill me and then suddently start insulting me. I didn't insult him, I just said to him that should be respectful with other players and avoid TK.

The guy just keep going with this negative attitude and got kill by another german players. Lately he leave the server.

That's the story so far and my question is if this kind of attitudes/users could be banned or punished. Just to prevent that other players suffer that kind abuse. We are here to enjoy and make friends and to be polite and educated not to be asses.

That is why I don't play ROF online either.

Never experienced such a player up to now in BOS.

Just ignore him. This kind looses fun in the sim soon anyways and leaves to harass other people.

Also once dedicated servers are up and running people like him will be banned in no time and votekicks will be possible i believe.

Thanks for the info Winger, make sense.

It was Normal EU server and saddly was not the colour bug because he shot like 3 teammates before they start to kill him, even one of the guys ask him why he was doing this. The guy know perfectly what was he doing. Anyways that's the ways it is, you find nice people and no so nice one.

Considering there currently is no way of changing pilotname but contacting support, his behavior is really rather stupid:)

A game of this nature relies on server admins more than a centralized system.

I was an Admin for New Wings and currently with New Friends and Fliers(NFF) and there are guys that act like this and do so habitually. We were sort of hobbled as far as RoF was concerned by not being able to ban someones IP address so offenders would just change their username and continue the same behavior. Having the ability to ban an address instead of a username is a powerful deterrent. However, most of the time if someone was warned they would cool off and fly straight. In 2 years though, I banned someone once.

Do what we used to do, rub your smelly man parts in his oxygen mask when he is not looking. Next time he gets nasty with you, you'll break out laughing.

Trust me, it works! ;)

Oh that's nasty!

seeing as though this is early access and the guy at least spent 50 bucks on it ... i don't think he'll go away soon...my advice is ...right now if nyone does it get the whole server teammates and all just go after him. if you make his experience terrible he'll leave. like someone said right now you can't change your name. :)

It's been said before... Once this is released I'm sure admins will have their handful with the internet personalities that come with MP. After paying into the game to have your account banned isn't going to be pleasant.

Thanks for all the answers/ideas included the one with the oxygen mask ;) . Right now a good thing featured into the game is (like you said) that there is no way to change the ingame username. I have the name of that guy written but I don't think I should make it public. I like to get a second chance even if Im 100% that that kind of people doesn't change at all.

Best regards to all of you,

Peter

Had a guy one time kicking me off it's PE-2 because my username was slavic... A guy flying a soviet plane in a sim made by a russian team... Anyway, he will be banned from my server once it's up.

This kind of behavior is making some players play less on servers. It is bad for the simulation

There must be a solution for to avoid that behovior like turn off friendly fire or reflecting frendly fire (the attacker takes damage)

Theses are just suggestions.

That's a good suggestion, but I'd say the relentless vulching is what drives people away.  I see more people quit after being shot on the runway than after a team kill.

You don't learn anything strafing someone on the deck. That' season enough not to do it. Thumping a guy while he is rolling is fun, but don't engage until the enemy has some energy with which to fight.

True. I quit the other day as some genius managed to make holes in two of us on the runway. No real point in spawning again. He must have been very frightened that we might take off!

And taking five minutes to get from air start to the combat area is just ridiculous with the short round times.  We really need player controlled AAA to better defend the airfields.

It is kind of stupid to act like an idiot on the servers as your name is easily followable. If there was a reporting option, like in WoT, that when you make a report on a player devs get a times tamped notification and can check from logs how it was. This also prevents baseless reports, as some seem to grieve people by reporting them without reason. Or one option: to have chat window OFF :)

This was bound to happen sooner or later I am just

surprised it was in early access.

I don't mind being attacked on the ground and I have no problems attacking planes taking off or trying to land heavily shot up. I think it adds realism.

For fair playground we have duel servers.

What I don't like is grieving in the chat and calling people names. Last night on Expert I was called a retard and idiot , and accused of cheating because I was using flaps in Yak in turnfight with Bf 109. I think we should have an option to report player using abusive language , but would they ban a paying customer? Don't think so.

I reckon a vote to kick system is all we really need. Such as if over 50% of the servers population votes for that player to be kicked then they should be removed from the server.

Even a 'Forgive or Punish' system for friendly fire kills would help. For example a teammate shoots you down and on the respawn menu you have an option to either Forgive them or Punish them. If you clicked on Punish it would give them a warning, so they get 2 warnings and on the 3th 'punish' the player is kicked.

As for the spawn killing I don't see it has too much of an issue untill to becomes excessive.

I don't want to cast dispersion's on the whole warthnder community but unfortunately the more folk transitioning from war thunder to this sim the more this sort of thing is going to happen. Warthunder a "wretched hive of scum and villainy"

Kids with the mental age of 5, so used with their mouse aim are finding it hard to compete with the joystick crowd. They're going to get frustrated and anything to shoot at will do including team mates. I can't wait for dedicated servers. Spawn vulching is putting me off online play. I'm flying DCS more. I really hope this community doesn't end up like warthunders. That would be a tradgedy

Just stop. This is a small map with two airfields and is designed for load testing.

Fun times of great MP interaction begin after release, maybe sometime during beta when more MP servers that can be customized are up. Don't start asking for them now, this is early access. This is for testing load, faults, failures in the code or performance not for happy fun good times. If you want "I'm having so much fun with this game!" then you bought this way too soon and joined way too early.

I won't win anyone hearts over with this post, but that is the reality. You are not supposed to have fun, you are supposed to see what is going on in the development cycle and see the technology as it evolves into the eventual release. This is not the final version and this is most importantly not the point where you are supposed to be having fun. Sorry to say it, you have many more months until this is done, enjoy the fact you have access to it now and love what is currently there - it is not reperesentative of the final product so just enjoy the ride. If that is uncomfortable with you, hell - talk to me - I can possibly buy your version off you and donate it to those who will enjoy the final product. PM me. I can't do everyone, but maybe five or six. EDIT: depends on the level. I can do five or six Premiums, but could do more Standards. Just let me know, there are people who would be very happy to have early access to this.

+1 but comes with a but...

Work needs to be put in now at this early venture to stop the issues in the future or public MP could decend into this being common place, resulting in coop being the only resonable form of online play.

I haven't encountered that much vulching, but the rammers are another issue. At this point its making me have War Thunder flashbacks.

Well, yes, but..I'm not going to be helping with a lot of load testing if I quit 10 seconds after I join!

It's not a complaint about the game from me, just about idiots! But there are plenty of them in real life.

You say that we are not "supposed to have fun". Sorry, but I wholeheartily disagree. When I pre-ordered (!) the premium edition it was advertised with this "early access". It was never written "access to early alpha version" when I purchased my copy. While I definitely did not expect to have early access to a release-ready game I clearly did not expect to take part in alpha testing and I was initially quite irritated when I learned what the devs meant with "early access" (and I was not alone here). BTW the disclaimer in the start up screen of the game and Jason said himself here on the forum that we are by no means alpha testers. So I think I am entirely entitled to look for fun playing this game because I paid for that.

Also I think it is important and also to the benefit of the devs if we give our feedback. It may not always be positive but it will help them to streamline their produkt and us to get a product that is better taylored to what we want and that we will fully enjoy as soon as it is released.

The forgive or punishment idea is a good one. In order to be more effective I suggest to have a negative point account for each player. If he accumulates too much negative points (when he hits friendlies and destroys them he should get negative points automatically) he shall be kicked for a couple of minutes to think about his deeds. This may come at three levels. The first kick could be a temporary ban of 5mins. The second at 15mins. The third for 2 hours or so. After a fourth temporary ban (48h) he may get his account wiped clean. (numbers just for example). Or he could redeem himself by staying for certain times clear of friendly kills (ground or air targets). Thresholds and durations should be server settings.

Do a quick search of the Developer Diary thread. Just search for "alpha." DD31 was before Early Access occured.

You didn't expect to participate in an Alpha product less than a year after it was announced? Wow!

This is an alpha product, find fun where it is to be had. I have tons of fun, but I know this instance of MP is not anywhere near final, the SP isn't either. The settings aren't either, they've changed many times since start. So, you know, find fun with what exists but this isn't anywhere close to final and it is still better than some other released flying games. But to complain about the current state, you should have waited until it was released.

And this:" Part 26 - Game is shown on presentation in the USA; pre-order programs is launched; pre-alpha stage of development is successfully completed; short videos from the presentation; game video with ground vehicles including tanks and firing Katyushas. Published on August 2nd, 2013."

You think the game went from pre-alpha to almost done in a few months?

You may not have been alone, but somehow some of us could put the pieces together fairly easily because it wasn't that hard of a puzzle that we were not getting anything close to a beta.

Well, I do expect a product description to be complete without the need to look for a specific information somewhere in a forum. When I bought the game the official release date announced in big letters on the front pages of the sturmovik site was Spring 2014. Yet, I did not complain about that. What however I am complaining about is that you seem to think that people should refrain from expressing their points that they critisize, because according to you we should just swallow it and suffer because we are not supposed to have fun with the game. That is pretty condescending imho.

It's not.  This is an alpha.  We are just test dummies.  If you don't want to be a test dummy, you should have waited until release.

No, we are not test dummies. At least Jason Williams said so. And it is confirmed on the start screen (if you have ever read it) that we are no testers.

We're not beta testers, but we are definitely testers.  They use data from us playing the game to make it better.  Prior to release their primary concern is not our fun, it's getting the game ready for release.  Anything you want is secondary to that.
