Question: Is there a YouTube video on how to spawn a train and have it follow way-points? Maybe a single mission with a train?

Here is a train route mission I put together some time ago. It has been updated to work with the current game version. It's simple but it might help. In my final mission usage, I had to tinker with the stopping timing but eventually got it to perform as desired.

It's not a spawned in train though.

Good luck. :salute:

I'm about halfway through porting content from Word to HTML in WordPress, which requires a fair bit of tweaking. I'm getting better at HTML, particularly formatting the complex multi-level lists from the manual.

After I get the content in, I'll need to massage the formatting , finalize and adjust the website theme, and add home page graphics.

The final result will include about 8 pages of change log notes, but there are still piles of updates I can make after the site is live. That's why I wanted to go online; I can do updates whenever I have time and learn new things instead of having to finalize everything for a PDF release.

Technically speaking, the Visual Studio Code HTML editor is helping a lot and is much better to work with than the WordPress HTML editor (I won't even touch the WP Visual editor).

Should be ready in two weeks...months...years!

@JimTM

Seriously - you took very complex instructions and made it super easy to understand and more importantly - execute ;)

You lost me on the random switches though. I will have to read that topic a few more times

What I am trying to do is create 4 groups of trains with different destinations (I got that part). Then create a four way random switch that will trigger a spawn of just one of the groups at mission start. :scratch_one-s_head:

Yes, the random switch is complicated to understand. Try reading the "Description" section (pg. 296) before the "Usage Notes" section (pg. 294). I was thinking of swapping those sections in the updated online manual I'm working on.

Good luck with your "training".  :)

In a hurry are we? ?

This will be a great help!:clapping:

I/We appreciate all your hard work. :gamer:

Remember, Keep your eye on the ball, your shoulder to the wheel and your ear to the ground.

Now, try and work in that position!?

Trains in Il2 are far more fun than in games like even TrainSimWorld. Because you can program their behavior; Jim_TM helped me out a lot in trying to understand their kind of quirky behavior. The Velikie Luki  railway yard was a great learning ground for my making trains leave on parallel tracks without colliding, and making an a20 Ai bomb them.

I would love to see this part of IL2 expanded, the trains in FC1 are all the same, and you have to work with a German or even Russian starred loc in Arras f.i. The French made great steam locs in the past BTW. Besides in WW2 the trains were allover the backbone of the Nazi expansion efforts. But there are no Tank transport wagons even for a Russia bound German train. Well, lets face it: those Oil-tank wagons make great targets however.

As for Bodenplatte: i was expecting quite a bit of railways and railway yards. How disappointed i was after paying deerly for the pre release at the high price asked when it came out. Areas i know quite well are just not there as for roads, towns, harbors, and also railways and yards. Even the Ruhrgebiet still is not properly represented. Guess that will never improve as BP has been dumped already.

I tried to understand the Map programing system and found some information on programming railways in Rise of Flight, but the poster (AnKor58) never seemed to get any further like some modding tool or add-on MOD for RoF as far as i understand, maybe i am wrong??  Alas the posted links and examples 404 out.

The tread was from 2012, i wasn't even born yet ?. : https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/30042-making-rails-roads-and-trenches-it-works/

Maybe someone has this information stored somewhere ??: At least i would really be interested.
