Ok so say I have separate campaigns I want to run, like say a Spit Campaign in Kuban, along with another in Bodenplatte, and then maybe a P-51 Campaign in Bodenplatte as well.

And I alternate between them off and on..

After completing a mission, obviously it generates the file that PWCG will read from for the results of the mission.

Does PWCG always know the correct file to read for that particular campaign, or does the mission files need to be in a certain order in the game environment for it to

read the correct one?

Not sure if I am making sense in how I am wording this ? I am hoping I just don't have to think about it and PWCG will always read the correct associated mission file?

PWCG should always know which mission goes with which campaign.  First, the campaign name is right in the mission.  Then, PWCG creates a mission data file for each mission - not the mission file that the game uses but one that PWCG uses.  Most important information in these files is who participated.  Anyway, these files are stored with each campaigns directory structure, so the are separate from other campaigns.

So you fly three missions in three different campaigns.

You open one of the campaigns.  PWCG now knows which campaign you are in.

You ask for an AAR.  PWCG gets the PWCG mission data files for that campaign and figures out the name of the last mission for that campaign.

PWCG reads the mission log files in the 1C data directory.  The log files are sorted such that the most recently played are first.

The first file of every log set contains the mission name.

PWCG looks for the first occurrence of the mission file name to identify the log set.  Other campaigns will not have that mission file name.  If you flew the mission multiple times the files are sorted such that PWCG will always find the last time the mission was flown.

Now the correct log set is matched to a campaign and mission and the AAR processing begins.

What you cannot do is fly three PWCG missions in the same campaign without doing an AAR.  That leads to bad results.

Great, that certainly answers my question, thanks much Pat!

Time for me to get some multiple campaigns going. Been flying the same plane for too long I reckon.

Don - I think you know this, but just in case not, you can now add new SP pilots to different squadrons if you want to keep it in the same campaign but mix up the a/c.  Personally, I prefer this option to multiple campaigns if I am playing the same time period/front since it keeps continuity on the boards and logs.  (You need to get a P-51 guy competing with your Spitfire ace on the leader boards :pilot:)

I also still have multiples, but only because I enjoy early & later war a/c and want to switch it up occasionally without fighting the whole war to get to the 44-45 a/c.

Much thanks I will give that a try as well. Been meaning to start flying the P-51 anyway, so that would work out well.

Can I add a new pilot for myself with P-51 in my current campaign even though I have flown several missions already with my Spit pilot?

Yep...multiple SP pilots at any point in the campaign.  Just use add pilot and you can then switch between them using the change reference pilot drop down to select who you want to fly the next mission.  @PatrickAWlson was very kind to add this for us, it is great fun and immersion in the same "war" for all your pilots.

I typically run 1 Brit, 1 Yank, and 1 German into my Bodenplatte campaigns.  (I make the poor American work his way up to ace status in the P-47 or P-38 squadron and then transfer him to a P-51 squadron).  It helps keep the scoring a little more realistic too.

Sweet! Just added a new P-51 Pilot to my same Bodenplatte Campaign. Thanks much!
