JG7_X-Man Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) For some reasons runways don't showup in the 3D map view of the winter map. Is this normal? Edited June 7, 2020 by JG7_X-Man
IRRE_Genius Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Which airfields ? Maybe when we use "terrain editor", some "bugs" can appear. Try to delete this 2 files to see if the problem persists: In: \data\graphics\LANDSCAPE_Rheinland_wi * files surfaces.text * files surfaces.dat 1
DN308 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Why delete? I presumed that these files contain my edited airfields

Deacon352nd Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 (edited) How do you use the terrain editor and what is accomplished through its use? I've seen it but didn't want to try something of which I knew nothing. I'm looking to flatten a few areas to make new airfields. Edited June 9, 2020 by Deacon352nd

The mission editor is a tool that allows you to create/edit both single player/co-op and multiplayer missions. Think if this as a tool to facilitate adding objects and making them interact with other objects. What you are trying to achieve by "Flattening and create new airfields" makes me think of the FSX/P3D tool Airport Design Editor - which IL-2 Mission Editor will not allow you to do. The terrain mesh cannot be edited. Actually, I wish it could because there are some major mountain ranges and rivers that were left out of the Rhineland map.
Nolly Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) in terrain editer you can copy and paste an airfield - give it a go and you'll figure it out. you cannot change the terrain, so you must paste onto flat land. (or you can have a slanted runway!) Your changes save, but they can only be seen in game with mods turned on in settings. I created a suggestion in the suggestions thread to allow this to be used outside of the "mods on" mode where most MP players play, or to include something like marston matting as a placeable and playable object so we can create runways in the game. this would make the underutilised corners of some maps (SE kuban, and NE stalingrad) more usable. I cant find my original post now, but i suggest you do the same! EDIT: found post: Edited June 10, 2020 by -RS-Nolly
