Mostly bombers and attackers out?

I have flown 7 missions so far in Moscow for the germans. The enemy fighter #s have been very low that I have seen in the sky. Mostly PE and IL showing up on the map. Only once on a recon mission did I cross paths with a group of I-16. None have had escorts either. These poor IL-2 are falling from the sky. I am flying the E-7 so I it makes me feel better not seeing I-16 and MIG-3 but not sure if this is right. I didnt adjust anything in Advance Config.

 

I currently have done the following:

Simple Config:

1. Planes at Medium
2. Ground at High
3. AAA at High

E7 is a ground attack campaign.  PWCG intentionally tamps down fighter opposition for non-fighter campaigns (or any ground attack mission) to one enemy fighter unit per mission.  This can be increased by the player through advanced config (I will get the exact one later) if they want to see more fighters.  The idea is that if you are running a bomber or attack campaign you probably don't want to get creamed by fighters every mission.

@PatrickAWlson Thank you as always. When you say 1 enemy fight unit per mission. Does the algorithm guess where they think we will attack or where they should patrol? Also is that both sides. Each side only has 1 fighter unit. Doing recon all alone and getting chased by 4 I-16 was scary.

 

Side note I did a search but couldnt find anything.  Do you all have a post where you share your Advanced Config for your campaign?

It is in the 'Advanced Config' the second line in the 'Mission Limits': Max Fighter Flights Per Side: Ground Campaigns: 1
