SARFlytitus Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 @voncrapenhauser Can't wait to see your work M8 👍
No_85_Gramps Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 Due to some recent health issues, it's been a while since I have been modeling. These are currently on the workbench: Two WWII ATS figures that my wife had asked about. One is Princess Elizabeth, the other looking much like Samantha from the TV series Foyle's War. The second is the 1955 Indy 500 winner. Pretty simple kit, and not bad considering the molds are from 1956. Found the kit some years ago at a local model show and found this scheme, and decals for it. Pink seemed to be an unusual color for 1955, but this is for the wife who is a three-time breast cancer survivor. 5
voncrapenhauser Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 Looking good so far. You both Stay healthy mate. 2
BornToBattle Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Well, I haven’t posted in here for quite a while so what the hey. Bench has been busy though. I managed to complete 30 builds in 2023. Just a couple I’ll be posting though. Enjoy! Tamiya’s Sd.Kfz.232 in original “desert brown”. The 232’s shipped to North Africa were in their brown paint before being repainted in their desert yellow but quite a few were never repainted in the field as depicted here. Being a Tamiya kit there were no surprises and was a fun build. I added desert dust pigment to complete the weathering along with some paint chipping in areas. The large antenna array is done in its original German grey. 13
BornToBattle Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 (edited) Gee….its kinda quiet in here! I’ll do another post to try to keep things humming along! E-100 by Trumpeter in 1/35 depicted post 1945 with newly installed black lacquer barrel and recently installed aerial protection plate for crew. Over 15 modifications/changes and additions were made to this build including hull texturing, drilling out of machine gun barrel, empty extinguisher bracket, airbrushed stencils, enhanced flame cuts, sighting optics and front spare track holder with tracks. Vishnu Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 (edited) Airfix 1/48 JU 87B-1 Stuka II./Sturzkampfgeschwader 2, Bonn-Hangelar, Germany, Spring 1940. It went together pretty well but trying to do closed engine compartment was a challenge. I put on a propblur because I'm planning on hanging this one up in my hobby room! No_85_Gramps Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 In over 50 years of modeling, I don't recall having ever seen a prop done that way! I think it looks great! 2

No_85_Gramps Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Getting there. Had to outsource some tires/wheels/knock off hubs, final painting of those in a couple of days. A couple of things I had never worked with before, Bare Metal Foil and a Chrome pen. You can see the results in this pic. The strake on the hood is covered with the BMF, and the exhaust was done with a chrome pen. The front grill will get the BMF and then the suspension can go in. The BMF was pretty easy to work with, as was the chrome pen. 7

No_85_Gramps Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Finally, across the finish line! Not sure what is next, I have a stash of unbuilt models, and about 9 or 10 that are in various stages. May be time to get one of those finished. 8 1

SARFlytitus Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I wanted to take a look at the HobbyBoss P-51 D in 1/48 scale. I wanted a weekend job and actually completed it in about 10 hours. finished OOB, the only change was the correction of the undercarriage legs which who knows why they had the anti-torsion forks on the front instead of the rear. I’m not a Rivet Counter and the finished model definitely looks like a Pony for me . Ultimately, I realized that building simple models between one demanding project and another allowed me to rediscover that light-heartedness in modeling that I had put away in some drawer. I had fun. 10

voncrapenhauser Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 Nice Mustang....yes you have to enjoy ...or whats the point otherwise? Finally had time to finish 1/4 scale cowgirl figure. Now I can get back to some unfinished projects. 7
AndyJWest Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I'd have to question the historical authenticity of the cowgirl figure... 4

voncrapenhauser Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) Test /trial fitting of parts on my 1/12th scale Star wars Snowspeeder ........It,s been a while since I started this project and I am glad to be back on it and near The finish line. The arrows in the one picture show The parts that were 3d printed to replace inaccurate parts plus 3d printed canopy (not shown). This is of course The 1/12th Black series Hasbro toy originally, The interior came unpainted so that has also been altered and accurized. Edited October 1, 2024 by voncrapenhauser 6
RedeyeStorm Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Nice, the headrest really looks like cloth.

Matt painted Then just as paint was tacky I pressed a light material into it. A approximate interior for The full size prop as The acctual models had very little interior and over sized pilot figures and look terible close up. Edited September 17, 2024 by voncrapenhauser
voncrapenhauser Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 (edited) Initial markings for Luke's Snowspeeder done. Now the fun starts ..... glazing The canopy, a few smaller inside pieces for The cockpit and weathering.....I am going to do a more subtle weathering unlike the filming models which are heavily weathered to show up on film but under close viewing look terrible. See what I mean.....Third and fourth pictures are of filming miniatures Edited September 19, 2024 by voncrapenhauser added pictures 5
voncrapenhauser Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Home made designed in paint shop pro , then printed on decal film, Decals applied and 1st pass at weathering of paint scheme before adding some grime and damage. 4 1
