161snails Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 I'm just about to start the 1/24 bubble canopy typhoon. I find that modelling is a great extension to our sim flying. building a model and then being able to fly the exact bird (even more so in VR..build a spitfire etc then fly it..amazing) is something I could have only dreamed of as a boy. I encourage anyone who has yet to have a go at modelling to give it a bash, nothing big or fancy just build something you love. for those with kids its a great bonding experience on cold wet rainy days. 1 2
Blitzen Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I just bought the 1/24th Typhoon car door version( always a favorite of mine..) and I must admit it looks a bit daunting....You’ll have to report on your build.. 1
STN Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Another short run finished. Short S.1 "Cockle" 1924 1:72 Avis 5 2

Feathered_IV Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Nah, the real problem is your model is too big! 3
STN Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 A new subject on the table. Am curious how it will go. 1 1

Feathered_IV Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Nice work everybody! Is that an E8N STN? That's one of my all time favourite floatplanes.
STN Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) And I can see why. It has very elegant forms. I am surpised how sleek the plane is. Nice piece of furniture You got Yourself there, voncrapenhauser Edited August 21, 2019 by STN 1
voncrapenhauser Posted August 23, 2019 Author Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) FINALLY DONE !. If The De Lorean is furniture then its a cabinet and sideboard,It is only 1/4 finished and already weighs a ton....PHEW! Liking those single float plane designs too STN ,my favorite is The Vought Kingfisher. Well done so far. Edited August 23, 2019 by voncrapenhauser Added stuff. 3 1 4
JonRedcorn Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 The interior on that car is amazing, the carpet is so cool.
voncrapenhauser Posted August 25, 2019 Author Posted August 25, 2019 Thanks Jon, The kit does not come with carpets. In 1/8th scale this kit is woefully lacking in details esspecially under the hood.I simply Couldn't let that go as you can see in previous posts.
sallee Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 Nice stuff, Wingless! VC, that is beautiful. But I was in France last week and saw one in the flesh. I think you put the steering wheel on the wrong side. I'll get me coat. 1
STN Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Finally a bit of colour. However I made one step forward and two steps back. As I was applying the gloss coat, plane fell to the ground and cracked where the lower wing joins the hull. I guess it means at least one more round with filler.... oh well... shit happens. 2

As an MOT tester for a job I get to see at least one once a year. That's where I got some cool detail pictures for my model. Cool floatplane STN, shame about dropping it......Seems always happens to me when I spray too. Edited August 26, 2019 by voncrapenhauser Bad spelling amongst other things .
Winglesschip209 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) Built the models a couple of months ago Edited August 27, 2019 by Winglesschip209 Forgot picture 4

Winglesschip209 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Working on this Japanese vehicle that came in a Tamiya plane kit I know it’s the wrong color I used a u.s. color does n e one know what’s the color used on the us cloth on the Willy’s jeeps tops and seats I use Vallejo air colors 2
Winglesschip209 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Mixed the color and got a good result 3
40plus Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I just finished my 109-G10 Erla. It's a 1:32 Revell kit and is the first model plane I've built since I was 12. I learned a lot of techniques by watching Youtube (hundreds of videos as my wife can attest) I strongly recommend a model who goes by PLASMO on YouTube. Anyway here are some in-progress and final product pics Up Next is a single seat IL-2 kit from Trumpeter. That will be followed by a Tamiya Spitfire Mk IX And finally a Revell HE-111-H6 All of my kits are in 1:32. For the He-111 I bought all of the extras that Eduard has available so it will be saved to the end when hopefully my skill level is better. Here's a mock-up of the IL2 next to the 109 for size comparison. The He-111 will be huge! (70cm wingspan) 3 1
