Aircraft outlined in sky color - bright and visible against clouds

Recommended Posts

Hello, this has been a problem since 4.006 (seem reduced somewhat in 4.006c) but now back in full force 4.006d) - best describe as the outlining of planes to the sky color (almost like some sort of AA not noticeable against clear sky at all, but VERY much so against clouds (almost like the sim is ignoring their presence).

Nvidia GTX 1660 Super, 1080p, Nvidia drivers 446 (up to date - also same case with previous 445).

Can't seem to get rid of it at all. This happens with mod clouds, mods off regular clouds, FXAA on, MSAA on, AA off, SSAO on, SSAO off.  I have rebooted computer several times - no joy. Did the steam file integrity check (I have a linked account) - all clear. Included are a few screenshots, my Il2 settings, as well as my Nvidia driver settings (if that is of any help).

Does anybody have any ideas??? -- I am tempted to do a full re-install, but very worried about losing things  as I have Stalingrad on steam (and 1 collector) and the rest from the publisher and all is linked up fine (afraid to mess it up).

I'm sorry, but this is the cost of DS in exchange for speed and reflection.

Ouch - you're kidding right? It no longer looks like a sim anymore, but has the visuals of radioactive aircraft in an arcade game. ?

And also just confirming that it does this on my son's computer as well (Nvidia GTX 1060).

 - and if this is truly the case (I really hope it is something that can be fixed/adjusted), then I would like an option to return to previous rendering as it is really ruining the game to me and no longer the same at all ? I really don't want to have to be flying clear skies all the time.

<But perhaps I can assume you spoke prematurely? -- perhaps this is something the actual developers will be able to fix or at least minimize - they have done great stuff, maybe I should keep the faith>

Previously, in the clouds, the plane in the distance was completely blurred, as if in pixels, now there is just a border, don't make a drama out of it.

Drama out of it? I guess I am happy for you that it is no big deal to whatever it is that you see on your computer - but my gosh, the aircraft are halo'd in bright rings against the clouds and visible from way far away and stand out like a sore thumb (this from a distance). And closer up they appear to be ...glowing. Great if it isn't a big deal to you, but it sure detracts from the sim to me and looks terrible. I am sorry that I feel this way?

I see that you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, just remember how it was before.

Well I am not going to argue over the validation of having an opinion and feeling a certain way.

How about this - 4.006c appeared better in this regard than 4.006d and e - so maybe there is a tweak(or tweaks) than can be made to improve it? Or maybe it was my imagination or I got lucky with lighting and clouds at the time (?).

Delete the game and reinstall everything, the account is linked so there are no problems with your current purchases, aditionally reinstall the graphic drivers using ddu unisntaller

What out line are you referring to ? Like alot of other people have mentioned, at a great distance aircraft are impossible  to miss against clouds, because they are highlighted by a halo which is far greater than the size of the aircraft.  Im sure the Devs will fix in due time, but till then the immersion is totally killed when spotting aircraft in heavy clouds.

I support this point of view... Those radioactive planes look like UFOs extracted from Area 51's vault. It is extremely distracting... Fixing this problem (because ... it is a problem ?) should be on the TDL of the devs... I hope the devs can understand that, with all due respect for their work. As @JohnHolmes said, it totally kills the immersion factor. This is a sim , right, not an arcade game

In VR (I only use VR) there was always an Halo around the planes edges, only this was always transparent.

Think it is a minor fault, not being recognized by the testers and sure the devs are going to make that transparent again. If it was to make spotting the planes easier, as some suggested, think that’s a rather hilarious solution, I’m sure 1C can do better.
