Check the inventory of aircraft in your squadron. How many Yak-7's and Yak-9's are available in the squadron? Many squadrons on the eastern front flew mixed formations until their old aircraft were shot down, damaged beyond repair, or so completely worn out that they felt they were no longer needed. I've been flying a La-5FN campaign where I still get assigned LaGG-3's although the number of LaGG-3 airframes is going down and the La-5FN's is going up. 1
P40eWarhawk Posted June 27, 2020 Author Posted June 27, 2020 yeah i get that but there were still 9ts left... aslo it seems illogical taking the plane from a pilot that hasnt screwed up his? I havent had a scratch in mine im im just not flying it anymore
No105_Swoose Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 The best way I've found to have a better chance of consistently getting the type of aircraft you want to fly is to use Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator. PWCG gives much more choice and flexibility than the game's Career mode when it comes to choosing aircraft.
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 I have yet to see a single Yak 9 in any of my Kuban career. It should be everwhere in August 43 no?

The only way you'll see Yak-9s by that time is if you fly with 157 IAP, which is a unit that only appears if you fly for them (like with the Fw 190 A-3s on the Stalingrad map). If memory serves, the Yak 9 became available in late 1942. So I should start to see them in Stalingrad around December 1942 and earlier in the Kuban career?

To play Yak-9 you must choose the Chapter 2 of the Battle of Kuban career. Yak-9 is available in 15th IAP from May 16 till June 16 and in 43th IAP from May 2 till May 31 To play Yak-9T you must choose the Chapter 4 of the Battle of Kuban career and 157th IAP. 1

I know how to fly the Yak 9 in a career. I have a FW190 A3 career running in Stalingrad and an La5FN career in Kuban. Now I want to fight Yak 9s as a german. According to its wiki page, the Yak 9 arrived at the Stalingrad front on December 1942, and played a great role in taking the air superiority from 109Gs and FW190s in the battle of Kursk. I know you guys need better evidences than simply the wiki page but still, here you go. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-9 The Yakovlev Yak-9 (Russian: Яковлев Як-9) was a single-engine single-seat multipurpose fighter aircraft used by the Soviet Union in World War II and after. Fundamentally a development of the robust and successful Yak-7B fighter based in turn on a tandem-seat advanced trainer Yak-7UTI, the Yak-9 arrived to Soviet fighter aviation regiments at the Stalingrad Front in December 1942 and played a major role in taking air superiority over Luftwaffe aces on the new Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighters during the grand Battle of Kursk in summer 1943. Thank you for replying btw. Sorry to be off topic but is the german Bodenplatte career going to be improved soon? Thanks again. Edited July 7, 2020 by I./JG52_Woutwocampe Typos

Yeah, but why only partially quoting me when I said just after that I was aware that wiki wasnt enough of a source ? The wiki page however mentions tons of references and documents, maybe one legitly proving that the Yak 9 saw action at Stalingrad in December 42. Thats why I thought it was relevant to still put it here. Were all these references checked and refuted as not legit or faulty? Edited July 7, 2020 by I./JG52_Woutwocampe

I’m now on may 27th in my 15th IAP career that I started from the beginning in Kuban. My squadron still doesn’t have Yak-9’s. Are you saying that unless you start the campaign from chapter 2 even though it’s a continuation on chapter 1 you don’t get Yak-9’s?
Mainstay Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 @BlackSix Could you please reply to my question above?
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 I have yet to see a single AI Yak 9 or any type in the Kuban career.
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) Bump. I have more than 450 kills in my Kuban german career but I havent seen a single Yak 9 in the skies. None. Its August or September 1943 and I still see Yak 1b's from times to times but no Yak 9? Why? Edit : we should actually start to see the Yak 9 in Stalingrad, late December 1942. https://airpages.ru/eng/ru/yak9.shtml Edited October 8, 2020 by I./JG52_Woutwocampe 1
