No to the above.

Wanted to say Great patch. Visual acuity is vastly improved.  Good work.

Han maybe get al least one of these guys to use a Radeon card, then they will pick up problems before release and things will go much smoother. It can save you guys the headaches of doing hotfixes. The future GPU numbers going to look a lot different to today, next few years it will be 50-50 Nvidia and AMD. With new Navi2 and Big navi plus the next gen consoles AMD is only going to grow in numbers. I work for PC retailer in Australia and the number of AMD cards and CPU's we sell is crazy. AMD GPU's sales with Navi have dramatically increased,  it used to mostly be Nvidia not anymore.

Nvidia RTX 3000 cards are expected to be announced in August and rumored to be released in September.  The RTX 3080 Ti is rumored to be a 40% improvement on the RTX 2080 Ti.

Those speculated Nvidia dates are ahead of AMD's expected next gen dates of October/November, of course, so it will be an interesting year end.  And the rumor mill is just beginning

to get spooled up ...

We have them. My team was on lockdown in Moscow due to COVID. We literally had one day to get everyone working from home and we weren’t able to get them home. The guys broke quarantine to fix this. These are not normal times. Also, without going into it, basically AMD cards do not work as they should even though our code followed the rules. Long story. Not all our fault, but we fixed it so time to move on.

Even Oleg Maddox used to say that a Nvidia was the only way to go if you were into sims.  Nv would send representatives to his door, but AMD would not even answer an email.

That is correct @Feathered_IV. AMD is really active in the embedded market, and does well there. But from what I know have notoriously bad support for the consumer market. For the consumer market, their main strategy has been cost leadership for a while, that's how they sell. "More potential bang for your bugs (sic)!".

From what I have heard and this could have very well been a drivers' issue, and it wouldn't be the first time with AMD.

That Jason said "our code followed all the rules" basically is a sufficient statement towards that. Of course he cannot just say "it's the drivers", as that would appear like shifting the blame. But you know guys, a spade is a spade, a fact is a fact. It means the bug was and still is within the AMD drivers.

Thank you again.

I found a bug on Bristol F2B (F.II / F.III), the bomb racks in some configurations disappear (Version 4.006e, graphic all max with FXAA or MSAA, my PC specs on the signature, nVidia driver 450.99).

Silvergun, what are Nvidia 450.99 drivers? I just got the latest drivers specifically released for Windows 10 x64 (v.2004), released 5/27 and they are 446.14? And THANK YOU Jason and Team for banging all this out!!

I am pretty impressed by the team. They do not have ideal working conditions. All these systems and drivers to consider.
And a great deal of ingratitude

This just shows how difficult it is for the Dev team to fit all shoes and to make all customers happy. There are so many different PC Hardware combinations available, it is much easier to make perfect PS4 games than for PC, Consoles have all the same spec, PC don´t.

As Jason explained, especially during Covid19 restrictions it is much harder for the Team to work. It made me a bit angry last days to see some ugly and rude posts by some other users here, I pledge for a better communication of some users and not getting rude.

Now are crazy times and people must be more respectful, thanks.

S!

As a user of both nVidia and AMD GPUs I can say neither are perfect. Both teams have their blooper drivers. But I have never had real issues with either brand. I pretty much run all settings to default or application controlled, never forcing anything thru control panels. They simply just do not work most of the time.

One thing I have noticed reducing issues with games is disabling any overlays, be it Steam, TeamSpeak or similar. They always seem to have issues with games. Another thing is that I never overclock CPU or GPU, again a box of trouble waiting to be opened. Third I keep the game vanilla without mods. If ever trying one I make sure they are deleted after testing.

TL:DR Most of the time biggest culprit of problems in games is between the chair and the keyboard doing/tweaking things not to be touched or without enough skill/knowledge.

Nothing gamebreaking but i've got when on high alt very blurred squares on the map.

It's not usual outside bubble blurred terrain, in one direction there is normal up to 40-70km terrain rendering but on other directions on 10km terrain renders in very blurred squares with noticable border.

It happens with msaa and landscape distance detail x2, while on x3 or x4 is redered normally but it has great hit on performance.

Rift S, rtx2070super, i7 6700k 4.6ghz

I've tried to restart pc and verify game files via steam (two files fail to verify).

What a shame.  I have always liked AMD/Radeon's IQ (image quality) over nVidia but it's looking more and more like I need to switch back.  This isn't the first game that has been "Radeon Unfriendly".  Maybe they need to pick up their game.

True, and not just with games. Purchased late$t  hardware is generally tested & tweaked on newly released drivers and software. With time, the improvements & compatibility follow through the updates, but these can be neglected as well. This can also include the installation process.

I have to say that some of the comments that have appeared on this forum particularly over the last few months have been absolutely appalling. We clearly have a very dedicated producer and development team who are trying to do the best for everyone in difficult, unprecedented circumstances. The level of vitriol and self entitlement from some in this forum is off the scale. The team doesn't have the the resources or staff levels of a company like Microsoft or any of the big multi-billion dollar software developers, but one  thing that the developers have proved time and time again is they will strive to sort out all problems. They are extremely hard-working and I know they want the best for the whole community. As for the testing team, I can say without hesitation that they are an extremely dedicated bunch and none of them have their own agendas, whatever some may believe. I've been gaming for around 40 years and I have to say I don't think I've ever come across a better producer  or development team then the folks working on this project.

It's the 'New World Order' to complain that the individual has not be pacified.  There is a general attitude that what is right is what is right for me.

I haven't always agreed to what the Dev's have done but I don't expect them to cater to me first and everybody else second.  I'm not paying their salaries.  And even if I was there are other players to consider, something a few folks posting here seem to be oblivious to.

So while I want this and I want that, what I really want is a playable game, not just for me but for everyone interested.  Will it be always perfect?  Heck no.

What I DO appreciate is the effort this small, obviously dedicated team is doing for the community and doing it under very trying circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic stifling everything we are used to doing.

Keep up the good work Dev's.  I'll keep buying content as long as the overall quality is at the current or higher level.

Thanks to everyone and have a relaxing weekend!

Moving on from the whole VR issue for a moment - if that is allowed - to draw some attention to the scripted campaigns for FC.  They demonstrate that FC has huge potential.

I am three missions in on the "Spring Offensive", the Camel campaign - so far it has been excellent, with good mission design and no gimmicks.   The campaign is showing off FC very nicely, with the thrill, pathos and - dare I say it - hilarity of WW1 aviation.  The AI has been capable of holding formation and using scissors to force overshoots.  And no, the planes are not all losing their wings. ;)    The Archie is all over the place and the ground fire from MGs is frightening: all as it should be.

A big thank you developers for getting this into FC, and especially to the mission designers/testers who must have put a lot of work into this.

Even if your first love is WW2 try FC if only for a change of pace and scenery.  It will also improve your flying.

Yes now with both some scripted campaigns and support by PWCG there a lots of good single player action to be had.

That comment reflects very good my own impressions I've gained since my first box version purchase of Rise of Flight in retail, five or six years ago.

I was so puzzled  after opening the RoF box at home about the maps, the key stroke setting map (even coloured), the quick but informative manual in my own language (even with flying tips like e.g. side slipping and how to come out of a spin. etc.... . ), the Dicta Boelke plan, about the map of the medals etc... . htat my first impression was clearly, and I remember it like yesterday:  " Wow, those developers must be a loving bunch of guys with a lot of passion and inspiration in their hearts, far far away from penny pinchers " .

And after launching the game and participating in these lovingly made tutorial missions, even with a virtual flight instructor (who spoke a very clear british English as supposed he should), I was completely overwhelmed, and thought:  Wow, this is it how a military sim should be like, how it should start for beginners  !!!! - have this only seen in FSX before, but Microsoft is a multi million dollar company (if not billions).

And besides all the tidbits, I've discovered another important thing:  Allthough RoF is a military sim from another period of time, the developers seem never to forget that it's still a flight sim in its essence - therefore the flight dynamics have to be propper and correct !!!!  And I was just amazed and still am how well modelled the flight dynamics in RoF and BoX are - how it feels right, and how they constantly improve it.

And after reading in a flight sim journal a couple of months ago this year, that the same team of developers of RoF are now doing the IL-2 BoX series (and Flying Circus), it was just a no brainer for me to purchass some of the IL-2 series at steam at the same day.  So, in my case it were cleary the DEVELOPERS - the team behind IL-2 who decides me to start with IL-2 BoX, not the warbirds and not a particular period of time in history.

And my last purchase was yesterday, the collectors module of the IL-2 Spifire VKB on Steam

Edit:  And today the new Yak-9T, also on Steam.  First impression:  I'm impressed how beautiful this plane is, inside and out (and it's liveries), and how far along the Russians have evolved during WW II  from the beginnings to the later Yak's -  it's almost unbelievable   :o::o:  .

All the best :salute:

Honestly, I am delighted to hear it. Although I do not plan on going VR myself, if the VR-only crew like FC, so much the better for us animal skin clad, Neanderthal types with our flint PCs.  It needs as many people as possible to buy it if we are going to get the additional content FC needs to flesh out the SP game.

It has just been a bit tiresome that for the last year or more every update thread turns into a VR tech support, or MP VR/Screen fairness thread, drowning out discussion of everything else.

But they do make the boss proud. They showed great initiative to work on these tough issues and e VR zoom tweak without any prodding from me. Especially Daniel, Sergey and Sneaksie working late several days in a row to get it done. Now they deserve a weekend off. Any further fixes or changes will happen next week.
