41Sqn_Skipper 192 Posted May 15, 2020 "In the graphics department, we're adding an alternative antialiasing method, FXAA, which trades some AA quality for a noticeable performance boost. It also has a side effect of somewhat improving the visibility of the contacts against the ground, especially when used in conjunction with the "Sharpen" graphics option. " More performance and better visibility, perfect!
Dirt_Merchant 77 Posted May 15, 2020 Sorry if this has been beaten to death already, but is there some speculation on performance increases due to the deferred rendering in the upcoming update?
Avimimus 566 Posted May 15, 2020 "Second, the ships in the sim will have more advanced physical models - they will be able to run aground, receive an impulse from collisions, etc." Is this just referring to the physics implementation? Or have the hitboxes been changed to do things like make waterline hits more effective? As a minor piece of feedback: Ships are currently much more vulnerable to high explosive rounds than the are to armour piercing rounds. I believe this happened after the damage model overhaul. P.S. The RAF used the armour piercing RP-3 rocket rounds against ships because they had an ability to travel underwater to produce hits below the waterline... RedKestrel 3358 Posted May 15, 2020 Just now, [_FLAPS_]Dirt_Merchant said: Sorry if this has been beaten to death already, but is there some speculation on performance increases due to the deferred rendering in the upcoming update? IIRC deferred rendering offloads a bit of the load from the processor to the the GPU. So the goal is improved visuals with the same performance. But the different AA method they are introducing is to increase performance a bit, as the AA type currently used would have a higher impact in conjunction with the new rendering. 1
Avimimus 566 Posted May 15, 2020 Also - as a minor piece of feedback on the WWI damage model: I suspect that the lack of modelling of hitboxes for wires and spares in the wing might be the underlying issue (as damage gets transferred from hits anywhere along the wing). However, the issue is also that bullets aren't penetrating the fuselage to hit the pilot - so making sure the fuselage doesn't stop bullets would be a higher priority than making the wings weaker. Similarly, adding a spine/heart hitbox for the pilots would help (or as a stop-gap - making it so that bullets aren't stopped by the body and there is a chance to hit the pilot's head when firing from below).

Great for players who play with no tech messages they can finaly have their own servers, and what about tech messages ( like egine timer to expire or recover ) that only work for some mistical reason when Instrument panel realisam option is turned on ? will they now work like all other tech messages, all time no mather of Instrument panel realisam options (exept if server set no tech) , so us who are low dexterity and need tech messages like thouse see them ? mattebubben 114 Posted May 15, 2020 Is there a chance that we could get the modifications lists for the Yak-9 and Yak-9T before they are released? Ive already Pre-Ordered the Yak9T but im holding off on the Yak-9 as im wondering what kind of Modifications it will have (If it will have modifications that turn it into other Yak9 variants Like Yak-9D) or if it will only simulate the Standard Yak-9.

They have the wheels for the oil and water rads without any discerning markings, except for counting the turns, i.e. full turn = ~20%. The rest of the plane set has it much easier... 2

Probably just gunsight, mirror, radio becon and thats it, no bombs rockets or any other variants exept vanila 9 and 9t. Or maybe they gona suprise us, i have Yak-9T and dont expect many modifications, but expect many skins 😄

I use techchat myself when I fly a unfamiliar plane. But switch it off asap. I really did not see any reason for dividing the pilots further. I was quite happy the way it was. I never really waste my time thinking about what other people do. I was not trying to judge 1
