Another pic we want to show you the WIP model of the early war German pilot which will be used in BoM, BoS and BoK timeframes. It's going to appear in the project a bit later, but it won't be a long wait:

GER_pilot_summer_early.thumb.jpg.13e876c74919356bc8e6d2de9ad82736.jpg

I guess this means it'll be added in 4.007 or 4.008

It looks superb,  new shading! Is it possible to see some more screenshots, maybe from testers?

Me262, La5FN, Dora?

No, except if dev give us the right. We are under NDA.

Showing a new feature is a part of communication which is dedicated to the dev.

Devs, will the deferred rendering update affect spotting? Have any tests or changes regarding spotting been made?

OK, the render changes and the new graphical capabilities are not as huge as the jump from DCS 1.5 to DCS 2.5 or the jump from CloD to CloD Blitz.

I wonder if the render changes will have any noticeable effects on the clarity & SDE in various VR setups like Pimax?

Would doubt the renderer would deal with SDE in various VR headsets as those are a physical issue unique to each VR headset type.  Screens, Lenses and maybe a coating would be more what effects that.  Clarity? Render Target Resolutions help there but the renderer would by the looks of video and images presented - offer better lighting and tonal control in the sim.

Yak 9T looking very nice there as is Early War Hans. ?

The terrain detail and colouring is also looking very nice.

The Yak is beautiful. Deferred Shading is definitively the way to go.

The metal skin looks now really like used painted metal, and this wet shiny appearance is gone. I hope that this will apply to all existing planes. ?

Check the surface detail on the wing.

Yes but look also at the rivets. They are the best looking up to now. Pretty crisp.

I had hoped for an update on fixing the AI for TC... it completely ruins gaming.

Love the non-stop supply of free updates and am really looking forward to trying out v4.006 when it arrives.

Keep up the good work Jason and crew and don't let the complainers ever get you down.  :good:

Looking forward to the Yak-9 and all the other goodies in the next patch.

4.005 and 4.006 are definitely packed with tons of content ang core engine improvements, I think we are getting spoiled!

Why not enhance only planes for BOBP first (or BOM, BOS etc: I don't care) so we can have those amazing cockpits and lighting effects next week or soon after ? The rest of the planes can follow later, and as a bonus the devs will have additional breathing room.

Sorry, but the wait is killing me after the video of new effects that Jason showed.

I think I need to get the yak, looks great

Not sure, but "another" sim had great troubles with Deferred shading combined with MSAA antialiasing causing performance issues

Is this going to affecct performance negatively (to increase the looks), or will it help performance please?

Man, I very much appreciate all the hard work that the Il-2 team is doing, but I wonder this too.  My system can barely run VR at the moment so I worry about any degradation in performance.  I'll upgrade my system soon enough, but really trying to have some patience as my system doesn't feel that old yet (even though it probably is with a 6700k + 1070 ti + DDR4 @2133).

And you do not check the damage effect of the 37 mm gun on the Yak9t during tests?

What are you talking about, we are talking about screenshots, not about testing.

Jason and team ,

Incredible excitement over the next update, nobody expected not one collector plane but two.

Changes to the graphics engine, but also informed over 50 changes etc coming in the update as well.

Having a good long think to myself as to what that would include.

The graphics look great and so do those Yaks.

I'm glad I pre ordered them.

"The main goal in implementing this renderer is to open new visual possibilities while keeping the current level of performance and not making it worse."

Ah I see, well fingers crossed then. I don't entirely believe there won't be an impact but will be very happy to have my cynicism proved wrong.

Remembering how much fun it was to fly the Yak-9T in IL2:1946  and shoot some bombers or seeing the Ju 52/3m going down into flames I decided to pre-order the plane + the Hurricane.

I don't know if the heavy recoil of the 37mm nose cannon in the 1946 version was realistic or not but loved the loud bang and its shaking cockpit.

Well, I wasn't going to pre-order the 9T as I don't fly the Yaks that often.

Now I have.

The power of advertising eh? Well done team ?.

One question: shall the better improved graphics come with a hit on the performance of graphic cards? In less words to keep the same performances shall we need to upgrade our hardware or chose a specific hardware like a 2080 graphic card?!

Otherwise like so many times, I say great job, thanks for your efforts. :salute:

I thought you were testing the new planes that we were told about in this topic. That's why I asked my question. Please excuse me if I asked something forbidden

It is difficult to tell in the other pictures but is there some sort of notch or cutout for the canopy frame to fit around the radio mast?

I think "another" sim has great troubles with a lot of their stuff, so I would not be very concerned.

What happens in that engine does not necessarily extrapolate to others, including IL2's own "Digital Warfare" engine.
