Is there is a feature requests page? I couldn't find one...

1) I use very different settings when I want to run VR vs when I run in Desktop. It would be great if there was an option for running the game from a separate Startup.cfg file like a StartupVR.cfg for example. Is there already a way to do this?

2) Give screen mirroring options. Currently, the only open for screen mirroring is the split stereoscopic view. And running that at 1024x720 for performance reasons makes it a blurry mess for anyone who wants to stream or screen capture. I have to record the track, then open the game again in non-VR mode and screen capture that!
Giving the option chose single eye, both eyes or off completely.

3) Integrate native oculus VR support. Many vr users are running with Oculus Rift, and therefore suffering from lower / choppier frame rates than their actual hardware needs due to the double handling of the data through SteamVR then to The Oculus software. OpenComposite solves this problem, but ideally it should be built in if possible.

edit:
4)  It would be good if the gunnery positions (guns and bombers) were more VR intuitive. I know its not a consideration to have motion controls integrated into il-2.

Why not just have two startup.cfg files? Whichever active one you want, you make sure it has the proper name. For example, you could copy @SCG_Fenris_Wolf startup file and place it in the directory. When you want to use VR, you just make sure it is active and the other is the backup.

Not sure about a place for specific VR requests. I would imagine posting here can start momentum for features.

When VR was launched in IL-2 (already 3 years ago!), the devs said that it was better to run with lower resolutions for the screen in monitor.

I have been doing some testing in the past and I did not notice any performance degradation when running at higher resolutions. Currently I run at 1920x1080 in my 4K monitor and it is fine.

That's correct, as long as you don't run in 4K. I don't do that for performance though.

I use low res on monitor mirror because I don't want any mirror on the monitor blocking my ability to easily click on other desktop apps and switch around like discord or teamspeak. This is the smallest resolution that works without having part of your vision range in-game being unresponsive to mouse input.

Hello,

Could you help me setting this up ?

I just got a quest with a cable so it's like if I had a Rift S, I have installed the openvr.dll from opencomposite, I see the picture is split on the PC, if I move the headset (tilt and pan), the pictures are moving but I have zero picture in the headset.

I have not ran SteamVR because my games (BoM, BoK and BoS) are in local and I am lost

i7-8750, 16go; 1070GTX, I should be good on this part...

Thanks for the help

For 1)

I use JSGME to switch between my 2D startup.cfg and VR startup.cfg. Really easy to use.

You install JSGME to your IL-2 folder. It makes folder called MODS.

In that MODS folder you put the files and directories you want to use when you enable your modification.

In this case you want to make VR/Data/ folder to the MODS folder and copy startup.cfg to .../Data/ folder.

So it is going to look like something like this

.../IL-2 Great Battles/MODS/VR/Data/startup.cfg

Then edit that startup.cfg to those settings you want to use in VR.

Run JSGME and enable your "mod" called VR and you're ready to play.

The original startup.cfg is stored elsewhere by JSGME and is restored if you disable your mod.

I use it to change startup.cfg also. I have the game on a SSD that I switch between my laptop (when I'm on the road) and my desktop. I also use it to switch my input folder. I have input folders for different aircraft with different key bindings. makes it easy to jump from plan to plan.

Yea. the Devs need to put more focus on utilizing GPU resources for VR and really make this game shine.

Yes that works on smaller monitors. I have my PC attached to a 65 inch TV and if I do that the CPU is strained horribly.

Also, Id like a new loadout screen. Something outside with more sunlight. The hanger looks good but is so dark.
