LFL-EightyPLUS Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Hi Guys, Possibly this is a recent updated item but: I just noticed that in quick mission, with weather setting slider on 'heavy' it actually features multilayered clouds!!... Provided you are below a certain altitude. Not sure whats the max altitude for this, but boy...Is it awesome to fly between clouds during sunset... Also did you guys guys try flying trough a cloud in a P51?? with the rain drops on the bubble canopy? its truly beautiful! Makes me wonder why this effects is not more outspoken on other (older) aircraft... 1
40plus Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 'tis properly pretty. Love taking off from stop in an HE-111 in the rain. The streaks across the greenhouse, mmmmm. 1
CanadaOne Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Just took the P-51 for a spin in the clouds because you mentioned it. Had the cloud mod going, and that is indeed some first class eye candy.
rowdyb00t Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) I couldn't resist..... 4 hours ago, LFL-EightyPLUS said: Possibly this is a recent updated item but: I just noticed that in quick mission, with weather setting slider on 'heavy' it actually features multilayered clouds!!... We've had multiple layers ( 2 ) for quite some time. Quite nice. Edited April 16, 2020 by rowdyb00t 1
Bert_Foster Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) What WX and Altitude settings due you need to actually get multi layered clouds ? I have tried heavy but only get a single layer. Running cloud quality high. (tried Extreme as well ). Edited April 16, 2020 by Bert_Foster

Jump in your I-16 and fly through the clouds, stick your head out to the left or right and watch the raindrops on your goggles.

We've had multi-layer clouds since 3.001, the IL-2: Battle of Kuban release patch and the rain effect came a little before that. Certainly during the development of Kuban. So far as I know the dev team have put this effect on all aircraft. Doesn't matter if its a LaGG-3, the first aircraft in the series, or something recently released, they all get rain droplets flying through thick clouds and of course during rainstorms.
Bert_Foster Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) I can get 2 layers of cloud randomly from QMB (no mods) seems to be dependent on time of day and cloud height plus a random factor its not consistent. some times its there other times its not. Edited April 17, 2020 by Bert_Foster

It is only a random factor, with 10 weather patterns.

I flew real low over a river, took a few shots on the water surface, flew through the splashes and voilá: caught drops running as rain in the windshield. I thought it was amazing, what other sim bothers with that?

I banged my plane on the ground yesterday during a strafing run and got mud on the cockpit window, and then flew around like that. That was a first and it was great!

Lusekofte Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I found if you bang your props in the water it will get the windscreen wet too. And the cockpit yeah and the engine will stop. clouds are great in this game. I aime for the clouds when climbing
