I've created a pretty nifty google spreadsheet for finding out which planes have what controls, and figuring out which controls can share the same joystick buttons. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WZFFW18zSU0ip5QIZQbmuChM5Tw_5u-sqDCEKO5kWk0/edit?usp=sharing You can use the provided filters without fear of messing with other simultaneous users. It's somewhat sluggish, so please handle it with patience. It's missing Flying Circus as I don't have that product (yet). Comments and suggestions are welcome. If you have a google account, you can leave comments straight in the spreadsheet. Hmm, should I have posted this in the 3rd party tools section instead? Moderators please move if in the wrong section. That is some fantastic work, and very useful, one thing I noticed that will confuse some folks. That is, the controls might need to be color coded as to what experience level the user is flying with. Easy/Expert/Custom. I don't even want to tell you how many times we have seen guys saying they could not get X to work no matter what they tried. This may help them to realize they can't use that binding if they are not flying in the correct level of realism to make it function like it should. LOL and no I don't want to go test them for you...... I fly this level of realism.... Again, nice spread sheets Cheers Hoss 1

Hipsu Posted August 23, 2021 Author Posted August 23, 2021 Updated. It's up to date. Flying Circus, Normandy (planes that have been released so far), Yak 9s and Hurricane. Everything. I implemented that Normal/Expert -thing. I also colored the nationalities (Allied, Axis...) tell me what you think of those. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WZFFW18zSU0ip5QIZQbmuChM5Tw_5u-sqDCEKO5kWk0/edit?usp=sharing These new controls joined the party: - Engine blip switch (Sopwith Camel and Fokker Dr.I) - Fokker D.VIIF engine: altitude throttle (Fokker D.IIF) - Fire weapon group 3 (Sopwith Dolphin) - Gunsight reset (every plane with adjustable sights.) - Gunsight vertical adjustment and Gunsight twist reset (Typhoon Mk.Ib) 3 3
ericandi Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 I can’t get any of the filters to work. I’m viewing the spreadsheet in the Sheets app on an iPad and whenever I tap on any part of the filters, I just get a pop up asking me if I want to delete them. Its constantly wanting to edit those filter fields instead of opening the filter drop downs. I’m going to try on my PC. I assume the filters will work on the PC. Perhaps it’s just a limitation of Sheets on the iPad
Hipsu Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 Yeah it seems Google Sheets on mobile (not just Apple but Android too) can't handle the filter views. Nothing I can do about it...
Haddock31 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks a lot for the spreasheet, I very recently started on IL-2 and this has made my hardware setup for VR much less painful. ?
Hipsu Posted March 21, 2022 Author Posted March 21, 2022 Friends, I added 12 planes (10 from Flying Circus II, and 2 Normandy planes). It's super up to date. The list is getting THIC, hope y'all got ultrawide monitors. 3 1 1
VilsonFarias Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Definitely one of the most useful docs in the forum, I keep revisiting this sheet over and over. Thanks one more time, @hipsu. 1 1
klb1113 Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 This is wonderful! Thank you so much for all of your work. I was just about ready to post a question if it was possible to print out a listing of the key assignments in Flying Circus, and then I come across THIS work of art! Thanks again!! 1
Lupus Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 Awesome! Just what I was looking for! I've rebuilt my rig and needed this for setting up my flight Controls. Thank you!
ACG_Bussard Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Google docs gives me an feedback, that my request for access couldn´t sent. Has anybody the same problem like me or what I have to do, to get access to the spreadsheet? Thanks in advance for support.
Youtch Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 This is an amazing job and should be a sticky thread. It helped me understand things i was doing wrong or functions I was not using. I don t know how much this will change with the revamping of the control system per plane as per the last dev diary. Now i am looking on how to read from game input file to replace all default value column with the actual settings used in my config. Maybe with this one: 1

No need to even have an account, I can use it in incognito mode. Editing rights is another story, I haven't given out those. 4 hours ago, Youtch said: Now i am looking on how to read from game input file to replace all default value column with the actual settings used in my config. ACG_Bussard Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Thanks for the feedback, Hipsu! I´ve checked once again and it was the browser (Edge asking for a permission, Chrome and Firefox not). Weird.
Youtch Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Is anyone aware if there is an easy way to extract all controls assginment as per current configuration in an excel format?
SIA_Mal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 In the spreadsheet i see Gunsight Filter Toggle (LALT+F) for the P-47D-28, but i can´t make that to work, can´t try the other P47 as i don´t have that one. Any advice? The filter works fine in other planes. PS: I tried with the engine runing, all eletric systems on.

Hipsu Posted August 18, 2022 Author Posted August 18, 2022 Guys, I updated the sheet to include the latest planes. Normandy and FC2 are now fully included I think. It's uglier than ever! Everybody can thank Ar 234, which blessed us with at least 15 new controls that no other plane use. 2 1

Shame i don´t have BON, but thanks anyway. 16 hours ago, Ghost666 said: You have to have the Gyro Gunsight selected. That did it, thanks. Now i have some new issues, if someone can help, here they are. 1 - BF 109-F2 - the tag for Switch Water Radiator Control Mode is correctly marked but BF 109/110, Spitifire Water Radiator Open and BF 109/110, Spitifire Water Radiator Closed are not, they should be? 2 - Fw 190A-5 - Switch Engine Boost (LShift+B) does nothing. Any conditions to make that work? 3 - Fw 190A-8 - Drop Bombs Mode Toggle (LWin+B) and Drop Bomb Delay Toggle (LCTRL+B) does nothing, tried with the AMMO PRESSET N°2 (4 bombs) 4 - Hs 129 B-2 - Switch Engines Boost (LShift+B) not marked in the spreadsheet and it works with the plane. 5 - Hs 129 B-2 - Propeller Feathering (LCTRL+F) doesnt work. 6 - Me 262 A - Adjustable stabilizer axis - not marked for the plane and it works as AXIS not as buttons. In F2, as per the plane notes, the pilot shouldn't be able to control the radiators, just fully open them, and I think that's how it worked when I last checked. But now I checked again and the controls worked even though there's no lever in the cockpit. (Unlike F4 and later models) 2 - Strike modification. 3 - Centerline bomb rack with F8 / G8 modification. 4 - Alright, dunno how that slipped through. I'll add it. 5 - You have to switch to manual propeller pitch first. 6 - You found another one, I'll add it. Thanks for the QA
SIA_Mal Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 (edited) 1 - Bugs in the sky ? 2 - Would never have guessed, thanks for the input 3 - Dam, someone should list all the ammo presets per plane 4 and 6 - Glad to help improve the table. 5 - Some planes are so complicated Learning something new everyday. All set from BoS to BoBP. Edited January 30, 2023 by SIA_Mal mispelled word
LoupVert Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Hey there, Hipsu, thanks a ton for your efforts! As I'm getting back into the cockpits, your table makes the process so mucho smoother. Will the C-47 be included at some point ?

To be honest, probably not for a while because right now I'm living (temporarily) in a different country, I don't have my sim hardware, which means I'm not playing the game, so I haven't purchased the plane. So I'm probably not going to map it any time soon... But! if any of you want to do the mapping out work, test every button, I just prepared a sheet you could fill: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I-dIZoZTHnMtCFZRLeVcYeThJdBw9GL9XJmg7WGtR0Q/edit?usp=sharing It's again open for anybody to edit. I can then add them to the main sheet. Oh, Sopwith Snipe needs to be mapped as well. It's there as well. Edited February 5, 2023 by Hipsu 3
LoupVert Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Exciting times then! Safe travel, and have a smooth move Hipsu Thanks for the sheet.
Bubb Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Have just bought my first battle of the series, Stalingrad. And found this wonderful thread. Many thanks Hipsu, your spreadsheet is fantastic. Are the spreadsheets downloadable? I ask because web page formats tend to get lost over time.

I'd suggest the "make a copy" function which will save a copy to your google account. If the original does get lost/removed, you'll still have that copy in your own account. 1
Tom25briklebritt Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Would be great when you could update it with all the latest planes. Loving your Excel-File..
Hipsu Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 Hello friends. Happy new year! Sorry for updating this so slowly. I meant to add everything but seeing how the shopping cart would've gone way over 100 dollars even with the sales, for a game I don't have an opportunity to play right now... I decided to only add either cheap or "interesting" planes this time. Added: C-47A Li-2 CG-4A glider IAR-80A (and when the long version gets released, I'll add it then) Sopwith Snipe SSW D.IV Currently not included (I'm too poor to buy): Flying Circus Vol. III Collector's plane: La-5F series 38 Collector's plane: Bf 109 G-6AS Collector's plane: Spitfire Mk.XIV w/ Teardrop Canopy These will have to wait until the prices drop to at least 50%. Sorry. 2 2
Audgisil Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 For figuring out the best way to map the keys, this document is unbelievably helpful. I've used this to set up my warthog stick and throttle to fly every aircraft in the game without having to double up any keys unless it makes sense to do so (such as coolant controls for water cooled vs. Radial engines) It's perfect for configuring controls for a VR setup. Also, it's a great reference to immediately tell which aircraft have which features. Thank you for the hard work and for keeping it up to date. Very much appreciated! I wish I could "like" this twice. 2
Youtch Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I am assuming that the next update which will introduce changes to the bindings might imply having to revisit this very usefull mapping. 1
Hipsu Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 11 hours ago, Youtch said: I am assuming that the next update which will introduce changes to the bindings might imply having to revisit this very usefull mapping. yeah... seems like many controls will get duplicate on/off switches, similar to the current landing gear. I need to think how I want the spreadsheet to look like.. 1
Hipsu Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 I updated the sheet. Big job. I added the new Spitfire and the new IAR80, I added a "How to use" -sheet. In the Show-filter "[T] Toggles" handles the new separated on/off switches. Keep it unticked. I also renamed other items in the Show-filter. 2
