Is it possible to change PCs while keeping the same key configuration on your throttles and joystick ?

Hi everyone,

Hope you're doing fine and your loved ones are healthy.

I've a silly question, but as is my first topic on the community of Il-2, I give it a shot !

I'm about to switch PC this week going from those following specs :

i5 4200H Mobile                           -->       to :               i9 9900KF

Intel HM86 Express                      -->       to  :             Intel Z390 Express

4gb RAM                                        -->       to  :              32gb RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M        -->       to  :             NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

So my big question is to know if I will have to reconfigure all my keys on my throttle and joystick or is there a way to retrieve them automatically from my Il-2 account ?

Another quick question by the way, considering the pc performances I've given you, do you think I can now play Il-2 with ultra graphics without worrying about fps?

Those answers could really help me a lot ! Many thanks in advance for your help on this topic and wish you all a joyful lockdown on Il-2 :)

Big hug from France (But again, not too close ahaha)

Cheers mates

Your game settings are recorded in your game files. You will need to log into IL2 with your new pc but once you have connected everything should be as it was before.

I assume you are transferring existing files and not downloading everything fresh.

Best wishes and stay safe.

Hey @Gordon200 !

Many thanks for your quick response on the subject. It will help me for sure (Actually, it's a big relief to not reconfigure all my keys I've been working on for literally hours ahaha)

Have a great day and stay safe as well ;)

Not in front of my game PC, but there is an input folder in your IL2 data folder. You joystick key mapping and controller order config files are saved in there. Its always worth backing them up

Hi guys,

it's not that easy, I'm afraid. It is correct to save and copy the folder "input" located in your data folder of the game, so you have

all your key bindings for the new computer.

BUT: Windows system might assign new ID numbers for your input devices, meaning that your previously ID'd Joystick 01 now

might be new Joystick 02 or vice versa - it really depending on how your new system will assign the ID numbers.

There is a topic about this Windows quirk and how to correct this. Let me see...

Here you are:

Hope this helps avoiding some misunderstanding and especially some frustration.

Cheerio
