TyphoonOneB Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Really confused, is it in a new update or what im desperate here!
ShamrockOneFive Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 But I don't have it! I'm redownloading it right now, any advice on why it isn't there The silly comments may have been a clue...but you were trolled there in the last post. Anyways.... no, there is no new information from the devs about the He111, it is not available yet. Don't take everything that you read on a forum at face value The Developer Diary in the Announcements area is what you should be checking for detailed official information. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/

I guess that's the internet for you
Trident_109 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Many of the longtime IL2 players would recognize some of the references and jokes. Not sure if you are an IL2 veteran or not, but yes, we were pulling your leg a bit. I don't think anyone meant any harm. I know I didn't and being around most of the folks here from the old days; I suspect they meant no ill will. Edited April 24, 2014 by Robert
ShamrockOneFive Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Lol wtf, I just asked politely and this is what I get. I guess that's the internet for you To be fair... you asked about something that we have zero information on. So some folks responded with fairly good humour using ridiculous examples. Although it was perhaps not the best way to react it was also not the worst and I don't think any of it was meant in a mean spirited kind of way. Humour is important in life
TyphoonOneB Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 I'm absolutely fine with this, i've got a good sense of humor and laughed at myself for being so careless. I kind of thought for a split second something was up, but i trusted them and they betrayed me. It's all good guys. 5

DickDong Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 It was all done in good fun trying to trick u hehe
Finkeren Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Always remember to check the development diary. So far no plane has been released without being shown as WIP shots, in-game shots of both exterior and interior model and being showcased in a live stream (the Bf109G2 seems to be the exception, likely because it's so similar to the Friedrich) Expect to see all of the above of the He 111 long before it's released, so far none of us have seen anything. The Heinkel is by far the most complex plane of the initial release, so development is gonna take awhile.
Feathered_IV Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Cheers Typhoon. Just having a bit of fun, but certainly not in a mean spirited way if you know what I mean. As mentioned before, a lot of the stuff was treading some well worn gags from the last decade or more of flight sims. Definitely no harm meant.
1CGS BlackSix Posted April 24, 2014 1CGS Posted April 24, 2014 He-111 will be added last in the EA. This aircraft requires a lot of work. Our current plan of work: Bf 109 G-2, La-5, FW 190 A-3, He-111. 3
SYN_Jedders Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Wonder where the expression "pulling your leg" comes from...
Georgio Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Wonder where the expression "pulling your leg" comes from... As quoted in the Daily Mail: 'pulling someone's leg' came into use at a time when London was rife with thieves who tackled their victims by pulling them to the ground by their leg. AndyJWest Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Wonder where the expression "pulling your leg" comes from... Now there's an interesting story (off-topic, but interesting). In the old days of public hangings, the normal means of execution was the 'short drop' method, where the noose only had a little slack - resulting in death by strangulation, which could take some time, and could clearly be seen to sometimes result in prolonged suffering for the condemned. To put an end to this suffering, his friends would attempt to pull on his legs, ensuring a quicker end. Someone 'pulling your leg' was thus suggesting that you were liable to be hanged, and they'd help you on your way. Eventually, hangings came to be done in private, and by the 'long drop' method - the rope had more slack, and accordingly, if the executioner got it right, the drop would break the condemned's neck, resulting in instantaneous death. This needed careful judgement though - too much slack, and the poor victim's head might be pulled right off.

I seem to remember that they used to tie a sandbag to the feet to help the neck snap; they got it wrong with Saddam and pulled his head off apparently. Also in England at least if the rope snapped the condemned person was pardoned as it was deemed God's intervention that saved them, though I'm pretty sure the hang man would make sure the rope was upto the job ^^

Someone 'pulling your leg' was thus suggesting that you were liable to be hanged, and they'd help you on your way. This was the work of the executioner's apprentice/helper, usually a young boy called in Italy "tirapiedi", still used to refer to a person who does dirty work for others. StarLightSong Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I thought the idea of an American Ball turret ala B17 or Liberator on a He111 would give it away- while poking a jibe at the ""Unlock"" system at the same time. No harm intended Edited April 25, 2014 by JJJudyJoYstickr
