Pict Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) I went with the B-26, not that it's an easy choice in a sort of Fw-190 or Bf-109 choice kinda way. The reason and this leans somewhat into what @JG7_X-Man said above, is that they operated from my local aerodrome, Cormeilles-en-Vexin, I drive past the 388th Bomb Group memorial regularly, (twice today) and this will bring that local history back to life for me in the sim. Same reason I prefer the Fw-190 and really look forward the A-6 as Jg-2 flew them out of here too, though sadly no memorial as of yet. Possibly not the best of reasoning but when faced with a choice between two things that you can hardly slide a cigarette paper between... On 5/30/2020 at 6:42 PM, Danziger said: Why not both? Why not award gold to 1st & 2nd across the line when only 100th of a second separates them? same idea I think. Edited June 1, 2020 by Pict 1 1
FTC_Tobi_der_Ossi Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 I took the Vote for the 26 since its less portrayed in Media and Games like the B25. The B25 was featured in several Movies and Games such as IL2 1946. Its time to throw some light on a plane that did it part also but wasn't that portrayed. 2
easterling77 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 (edited) I will throw my money to the devs...give me both?. In decision for only one of them, i would take the Marrauder cause it's much lesser in presence like Tobi mentioned And an A 20G would be so awsome - Strafing Monster? twilson37 Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 To answer the question which do I like more, the answer is the B-26 for several reasons. First it was a program that nearly died due to the fatal crashes of the B-26A but was revitalized by Jimmy Doolittle and went on to serve our country with distinction. Secondly I worked at the plant where they made them in Middle River Maryland albeit many years later. However if you ask me which I would rather fly in Il-2, it would be the B-25, so many missions and theaters. Would love to fly for the 5th AF in New Guinea skip bombing a Japanese transport, such are the things of dreams. Of course an A-20G well that would be my ultimate choice
jollyjack Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 (edited) B26 fine, B25, agree, and it's already in the game. Guess the flyable version would be some tough dev-job with all the gunner positions. But i'd love to see more tough & larger Allied bombers; the a20 is quite lonely on it's RAF and US missions 'cross the Rheinland map. Edited November 12, 2020 by jollyjack
76IAP-Black Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 The B-25 was already in so Mama Games and Sims, but it is still welcomed here. But the B-26 is a more rare bread in Games. It fits Well in the plane Set of BON. Hope it will recieve its cockpit later in the series. A preorder could finance it. Crossing my fingers for this bird. 2

Enceladus828 Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 A question I have is how many people would prefer having the B-25 and B-26 as individual collector planes, or part of a particular “Battle” pack (can be a collector in that battle as well)? IMO, unless we’re getting Italy 1943, I think it’s best to make the B-25D an individual collector. Depending on which model we’re getting for the B-26 in BoN, I also feel that it should be an individual collector; if we’re getting the B-26B, then I feel it should be made flyable when the devs go ahead for Battle of Midway. Cheers.

I've never even used a gunner position. What would players feel about having the game with cockpit+bombardier without any gunner positions? However, I think the problem is still AI resources for the positions.

Like I've been short-changed... Our group routinely flies with human gunners, not every one likes to fly the aircraft and since the bombardier is functionally useless as a role in IL2...

The pilot has to act as both pilot and bombardier right now. Any existing aircraft where the bombardier/navigator seat can be jumped in to is currently useless, unless he has a gun in which case he just becomes another gunner. It will be a very good day indeed when control of the bomb-sight can be handed over to the second player correctly.
cardboard_killer Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Not having played cooperatively I did not know that, and again seems like a much more pressing problem than needing more bombers at all. I'm surprised people aren't more demanding of a fix for this?
