More information in specifications screen

Just a thought I had, do you guys think it would be good if there was a short blurb in the specification area that gave a bit of a summary of the plane in terms of the reason for its development compared to earlier versions and what type of combat it is best suited to ie high altitude interception, ground attack etc?

No. It's all out there in books and the interweb if you want to know more.

Wiki is always a good resource. For the german standard fighters it is very well done.

I'd like more data, less history in the info page. A speed/altitude chart for instance. Also, when in the load out screen, current weight.

I don't get this response.

If such information is available why isn't it already present in game, why should the player be forced to go and buy books?

Honestly anything that is modelled  in game and is specific for a certain plane should have it's description in the specs tab.

edit: I didn't read the OP's post I just read your comment and was making a generalisation of your response.

The point is that the plane specs tab should not be ten pages long, with so much info that you can't find anything quickly.

The in-game tab is a vertical slice about 1/4 of the screen, making the current info already pretty hard to read. Add another massive wall of text and it becomes useless.

I think there would be value in adding info but the screen needs to be reorganized, take better advantage of screen real estate, and organize the numerical data better with tables and bullet points.

@Jade_Monkey
You can fit a lot more info on the screen if you set the ui size below 100%

This is only possible in the Startup.cfg config file.

[KEY = interface]
    scale = 0.80000

I run 80% @ 3440 x 1440 can see much more of chat and read about 2/3 of plane specs in 1 page without scrolling

Sure, but that does not mean it's well designed.

There is no way to put enough information on the briefing screen to teach you flight basics, best tactics for a certain aircraft and it’s design pros and cons. If you really want to fly a plane correctly, it takes reading the actual flight manual or something similar and studying tactics as well.

Since BoBP came out I have only flown the P47, the Spitfire Vb and the P38 more than a few missions because it takes me a long time to really learn the aircrafts character. I would be fine with nothing but minimum flight numbers on the briefing screen like Requiem puts on his videos.
