Are pilot names generated randomly?

I'm going to guess that there's a database of first names and surnames for each nation, and that PWCG randomly selects one of each for every pilot generated.

Yes, there is a database for each nation.

There is a Patrick in first names and a Wilson in last names, so every once in awhile there will be a Patrick Wilson.

What I am wondering is, that he doesn't have any kills after 10 missions. If I was you, I definitely would have made sure, that a pilot with my name is created as an ace

Probably.  I don't fly much when I'm coding.  If I do off myself there is always @Murleen.  Pretty sure nobody is named Murleen.

I think the current USA Names files are currently more limited than the other nations, so Patrick Wilson ends up flying more often with/against us.  I have never been able to pull the trigger on him either.  If Murleen shows up, I will apply the same "fire discipline!"

Amusingly one of my campaigns has a 2nd Lt Patrick Wilson in one of the squadrons, who nearly became the victim of a friendly fire incident as I misidentified them as Luftwaffe...

I am guessing 2nd Lt "Pat" wasn't with his P-38 squadron on that day.  Glad you held fire Murleen - I could see a court-martial coming your way with a punishment imposed including mapping airstrips and taxiways non-stop along with the bread and water!
